Pace Setter 70-1344 Black Shorty Exhaust Header

Update Feb 2020:According tonthe state smog referee my truck was one of the few exeptions in this year vehicle sonthey are not carb legal. If you own a 2002 tahoe and live in California do your research. Or else you will be like me and you will have go back to the junk yard and get some and pay extra for the plates because they are now a month oast due.First of bought this because they were cheap and CA carb compliant.The paint is just a protective cover for shipment you will need to do a better job than me to strip, prime, and paint.Afterwards do your self a favor and replace all the hardware. I went to Lowe's and got some stainless steel bolts with washers and locking washers and it will be more secure.I bought the ls3 header bolts from ICT billet it's a much bigger hear size and firs better.The passenger side header need to be moved a bit from factory is very snug to the spark plug even with the fire jacket im pretty sure it may melt the boot.They have a nice sound to them I'm hoping it doesn't melt my spark plug boot.

Great for the price, sadly they did not come with flange gaskets. Bought both Walker gaskets for the flange. Make sure to soak the flange nuts with Kroil Oil, or PB at least 3-4 times over the span of a few days before you plan to change the headers. Mine would only come off with an impact and one nut would not even work with the impact. Manifold bolts and heat shields are all 10mm, do your best not to round any out. The heat shields are NOT reused. Overall, very nice product, I agree with the other reviewer my truck generates a LOT more power. I also used the aircraft cleaner method and the high temp paint and baked in the oven. Truck idles quieter, deeper tone, very noticeable acceleration difference and smoother shifting.

Uf you have an 06 Silverado and want some headers thede will work without the steering column hitting it. Only down fall is they come painted. I took it to a machine shop and had them cook it in there vat. Then i used a 1200 degree paint black and put the thinnest coat just to cover the metal no more. If you use more it will crack and peal off.

Installed on a 99 Silverado 4.8.Noticeable "Seat of the pants" power increase.If you are looking for pipes that will STAY BLACK, don't buy these, black paint on these headers comes off within 2 or 3 hours of driving. Not a huge deal to me, but still docking a star.

I noticed a nice power and torque increase. The sound from the performance exhaust is also a little louder. They are a good fit on the truck. I also noticed a slight increase in MPG.

They are very cheap made and the gaskets leaked

Purchased these because I had a cracked passenger side manifold and it would not pack Virginia Inspection. Removal of drivers side manifold y pipe was difficult and a RPITA. I had to cut two nuts off the old manifold at Y pipe from underneath the truck with die grinders and chisels. This was after I soaked everything thoroughly with penetrating oil the day prior. Passenger side manifold came off easily from the head and Y pipe. Both old exhaust manifolds came off the heads with ease. I had to strip the old paint off of the new headers when I received them from Amazon which had fast shipping by the way, because it is not high temp paint on the headers, just shipping paint to prevent corrosion until delivery and install preparation. The shipping paint came off easily with aircraft stripper I got from auto parts store. I followed the instructions on the high temp primer and high temp ceramic paint and baked the headers in the oven as instructed. My wife was mad about that, because it is a little smelly from the odors of the coating burning off? It is necessary because you will not get a solid ceramic coating until baking. So you're going to risk nicking the header paint upon install, because the drivers side is a tight fit getting it up in the engine bay from below. (Drivers side will not go in from the top, I tried). I didn't nick anything after painting/baking and the manifolds went on easily. Prior to installing headers on heads I used copper ultra high temp 700 degree (F) RTV on the head side of the header gaskets, let it get tacky and placed the gaskets on the heads ever so gently, waited ten minutes then installed headers. Make sure to step up torque from 11 foot pounds to 18 foot pounds in two separate steps from the center out. I had no leaks exhaust leaks. Inside the packaging I received 2 headers, 12 header bolts. A blank off plate, a blank off plate gasket 2 blank off plate bolts, washers and nuts. 2 high quality header gaskets. Drivers side y pipe gasket, 3 short bolts for drivers side y pipe with 3 washers and 3 nuts. 3 passenger side long bolts with 3 washers and 3 nuts.
