Emotionally Riviting
This book pulls you in from page 1. It has taken me a while to get this book. Not because it is not well written, just the opposite. This book is so well written you feel you are part of the story. You experience all the hurts, struggles and joys along with each character as they experience them. I found myself crying at times for the main characters because they couldn't. Knowing that this is based off of actual events and not just made up events make this story that much more amazing and heart wrenching. The author, Theresa Dodaro is an amazing writer. To have taken her research and created a story this riveting is amazing. I recommend this book to all. It makes you understand and appreciate history even more than what was take in school books.

Page Turner!
The Porcelain Doll is an excellent historical fiction novel that is set between 1940’s Nazi Germany and the present day. It follows the tale of Issy or “Oma” through her adventures during this difficult time. Issy manages to bring with her the porcelain doll, Catrina. Through the hardship of the past Issy is able to hold onto something as sweet and delicate as porcelain. As with all of Theresa’s novels the past is interwoven with the present in unexpected ways. Through the detail in the storyline the reader can play the role of detective as they search for connections to the present. Some of these connections are obvious and some are more obscure, making the final outcome even more enjoyable. I could not put this novel down once I started. The story line will have you eagerly turning pages for its’ ending!

Great story set in smoky mountains of Tennessee
Great read!I could not put down the book until the story was over. The story has many layers and I especially love the relationship between the granddaughter and grandmother.I have spent quite a bit of time visiting the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and I could visualize the places the author was writing about.I know a fused glass artist who has a shop in the artist colony of Gatlinburg and could almost imagine Tucker s stained glass shop. The author has touched my heart in many ways with her poignant storytelling..A

This beautifully told story about how two young girls survive a horrific time period in our history. Izzy and Rebekah are best friends sisters who help each other through Hitler's Nazis and the atrocities of the Soviet Union.

Fabulous!
I couldn't put this book down. From the very beginning I was emotionally pulled into the story. The connection between grandmother and grandaughter was so special. The two best friends that became family, always there for each other. Each family going through so much loss and heartache during such horrific times, both families trying to protect their young innocent children. I enjoyed how the past and the present story was told at the same time. I cried right along with the Izzy and Rebekah.

AMAZING!!!
What a story about the life journey of 2 little girls that grew up and lived through WWII. Seeing through Issy and Rebekah's eyes what they lived through and still held onto their dream of coming to America. I loved how the book flipped from the past to the present and how lives entwined with each other. I cried when I realized who Tucker was! Just an amazing book ! Thank you Theresa!

Great "double story" that comes together beautifully
This book has a double story of the past and present and it all comes together beautifully at the end. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a WWII story with a present day happy ending! Great job to the author Theresa!
