Pok Pok Som (“naam som” means vinegar in Thai) was founded in 2010. The drinking vinegars had been sold at the original Portland Pok Pok restaurant since 2005. Drinking vinegar for health reasons is an age old practice in many cultures around the world including here in the USA, dating back to colonial times when "shrubs" were a common tonic. While Som does not make claims as to the health benefits of of drinking vinegar, it is a delicious and refreshing drink with a nice tartness coming from the vinegar and concentrated flavors of fruit.

Pok Pok cordials
I've been drinking the Pok Pok vinegars for several years and love them. Recently they stopped making what they call "drinking vinegars" and now call their vinegar drinks "cordials". The gift pack I ordered contains the new cordials. They taste the same which is a positive. The cordials, however, are much more expensive. A 3 pack of the old drinking vinegars was between $35 and $42 while the cordial 3 pack is about $54. I'm not sure it's worth it but haven't found a replacement drink.

Too Sweet
This is the first commercially made shrub/drinking vinegar I have tried, so not sure how it compares to others. I went through a phase of making my own, but was excited to give it up and buy pre-made. Was a little shocked at the cost, but thought it would make enough drinks to be worthwhile. A decent sized serving (2 oz mix with 10 oz water) only makes it 8 servings per bottle (bottle says 16 servings, but that is a small serving), not including the soda water you have to buy. This makes it a little on the expensive side. Value aside, the real test is the taste. This was extremely sweet, I had to add extra water to lower the sweetness. The pineapple flavor is good, but the drink was overwhelmed by sweetness. As a mixer with alcohol, the sweetness could work, but with just water, it was too much. I wanted this to be a substitute for soda, but it has even more sugar than regular soda, not a good trade. Probably not something I would purchase again. If you are looking for a cocktail mixer and/or do not mind copious amounts of sugar, then this would be a good choice.

Good Flavor
Tastes surprisingly better than initially anticipated. I initially bought this to use as a mixer with cocktails, but after reading up on the health benefits of turmeric, I ended up taking about half an ounce daily. Now it's become a part of my morning routine.

I have been ordering this for about six months and find the Tamarind to be the best so far
I found tasting vinegar in an obscure Asian restaurant in Portland. The taste was so unusual, refreshing and clean. Maybe a little healthy as well. I have been ordering this for about six months and find the Tamarind to be the best so far. Very different from your everyday fruity drinking vinegar.

Refreshing, tart and sweet surprise!
This was introduced to me as a "health-ier" alternative to soda, but knowing the sugar content Is high I mix it 9:1 with club soda and plenty of ice. The taste is really very refreshing for a once-in-a-while treat. It lasts for months in the refrigerator and it's fun to serve to guests.

Different and Delicious
Refreshing and indescribably delicious! Just a small amount added to sparkling water makes for a beverage that leaves soda pop in the dust!

Unique quality beverage
Pok Pok is a Portland specialty item, and it was great to find a reasonable price on this favorite item. Looks expensive, but we use this concentrate with sparkling water or lemonade and it is incredibly refreshing and the bottles last awhile. Better than other drinking vinegars found at Whole Foods.
