Get a Life, Chloe Brown: A Novel (The Brown Sisters Book 1) - Kindle edition by Hibbert, Talia. Romance Kindle eBooks @ desertcart.com. Review: Charming and Yet Complex Romance - FINAL DECISION: I loved this book. I was prepared to find it as dull as many of the cartoon-covered books that pass for romance these days but are really just women's fiction. This book was amazing. Chloe and Red spend almost the entire book talking to one another, getting to know each other, and working through their various problems. The book is sweet and sexy and funny and so mature and adult. I have not read Talia Hibbert before and I was clearly missing something. THE STORY: Chloe Brown takes decides to "get a life" by taking on a number of initiatives, including moving out of her family's mansion, enjoying a drunken night out, riding a motorcycle, going camping, having meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex, traveling the world with nothing but hand luggage, and... doing something bad. Chloe takes on her goal of doing something bad by spying on her building's superintendent Red Morgan, who paints at night half-undressed. Red, at first, thinks that Chloe is stuck up, but as he gets to know her, Red is attracted to this woman who is brave in ways that he didn't expect. When Chloe asks him to help her complete her "get a life" list, Red cannot resist her. OPINION: This book is simply charming, and yet it is not fluffy but rather has a substantial adult storyline. This is the story of two people who have been hurt by others having to learn to communicate with one another. While there are some rom-com funny moments, the book feels really real. In how Chloe and Red fight and hurt one another at times, it at times felt too real but so incredibly lovely in how things work out. Both Chloe and Red are such good people. Such a book could be dull, but this book goes so deep into the relationship between these two that I as a reader was totally invested in how these two would find a happy ending together. Chloe has fibromyalgia, lives with constant pain, and has learned to be in control as she goes through the world. Unrestrained action can lead Chloe to When Red meets her, he takes her control for being "stuck up" and thinking she is better than others. Red, himself, has been hurt by such a woman, and so he has his own guard up to protect himself. Chloe has been abandoned by others because of her disease, and so she worries about opening herself up to anyone -- friend or lover. I loved that these two have wounds that the other person both reopens and also heals. The book is about relationships and community. There is a light gloss of Chloe's "get a life" list that she is trying to complete, but the story and her list are really about trying to create relationships, love, and community with others. This book surprised me, and I read it so quickly because I wanted to know how these two wonderful people would work out the problems in their lives. By the end, everything is not perfect in the world, and yet a rock-solid relationship between Chloe and Red is obvious. WORTH MENTIONING: This is a plot light book. It is really about Chloe and Red's relationship -- and a cat. CONNECTED BOOKS: GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN is the first book in the Brown Sisters series. STAR RATING: I give this book 5 stars. Review: A great book with relatable characters and hot bedroom antics - This is a fun novel with great characters that grow on the reader. When I first started the book I did not like Chloe but as the book progressed I realized that she appeared the way she was as a coping mechanism and more of her personality was revealed I grew to really like the character. I liked that the author had a heroine with a major illness because it is a very inclusive choice, showing that all kinds of persons can have a love story. It was interesting that the hero also had his challenges with anxiety and abuse he suffered through in a relationship. I appreciated that although there were communication issues with the couple that did not last for long and they made and effort to resolve the situation (extended miscommunication is one of the romance go to tropes that I particularly dislike) and move the relationship forward. This was also a very sexy novel and the author handled that aspect of the book so well, I loved the couple's physical relationship and how it was handled despite Chloe's illness. This is very good book and I am going to start reading the next book in the series to see what happens with there sister Dani.

A wonderful contemporary romance
Get a Life, Chloe Brown was an absolute delight and everything I look for in a contemporary romance. Chloe Brown is ready to finally get a life after almost dying and realizing how boring her life is. Being chronically ill might mean she has to take things slower, but she’s not going to let it stop her from completing the seven items on her “Get a Life” list. But in order to complete her list, she’s going to need help and she knows just the man to help her. Redford ‘Red’ Morgan, the superintendent of her building, rides a motorcycle, is covered in tattoos, and is sexier than sin. But as Chloe and Red work on her list, Chloe learns there’s more to Red than meets the eye and she finds herself falling for the man beneath his rough exterior. Chloe is chronically ill and it definitely takes a toll in a variety of ways although Chloe has found ways to cope with most of it. I liked how Chloe knew her own limits and wasn’t afraid to communicate them. Her experience with people dropping her because of her illnesses was devastating and it definitely helped show why she reacted to situations the way she did. As a whole, Chloe’s family is incredibly supportive and I loved how much they were all there for Chloe when she needed them. Her sisters, Dani and Eve, in particular are fantastic characters and I loved Chloe’s relationship with them. Red is simply one of the sweetest men in existence and I loved him wholeheartedly. Red was previously in a relationship with a wealthy society girl that was abusive and ended badly. His ex whittled down his self esteem and made him feel like he wasn’t good enough for anyone. When we meet Red he’s definitely struggling and his art is affected as a result of the situation which only compounded his issues. It was hard reading how much Red was still affected by what happened to him and I definitely think the author nailed things when it comes to his character. Chloe and Red’s relationship starts out antagonistic, but once they move past that, their relationship is wonderful with tons of banter and great chemistry. Their physical chemistry is amazing and there are some incredibly sexy scenes between the two. Red is understanding of Chloe’s illnesses and he never questions that she knows what she’s doing when it comes to handling them. I appreciated that he trusted her judgement and didn’t try to interject with his own opinions. I think my favorite thing about their relationship was how willing they were to admit when they’re wrong. Any time either of them screwed up, they apologized and they actually meant it. It was nice to see the pair take responsibility for how they messed up and working towards making sure it didn’t happen in the future. The idea of Chloe’s ‘Get a Life’ list was very interesting and I was definitely curious to see how checking off some of the boxes would play out. I liked that the list evolved and how Chloe didn’t force herself to stick to specific tasks if she found herself not enjoying them. The scenes of Chloe and Red working through the list were a lot of fun and I loved their journey to complete it. Overall I loved Get a Life, Chloe Brown and I’m looking forward to reading Take a Hint, Dani Brown when it releases this summer. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fantastic contemporary romance.

I absolutely loved this book. The British words, banter, flirting was all top notch. Best British romance story I’ve read. I love the characters, the plot, the writing mwah thank you! Red was sexy, funny, artistic and so so caring and thoughtful. Chloe was resilient, hilarious and so soft hearted. I LOVED the parts where she gets annoyed but she loves it at the same time. I’m so happy about her reunion with smudge too 🥹

This was a cute and fun read! I don't usually go for romances but I'm happy I decided to give this a try - the characters are well developed, the banter is good and well paced. I didn't give it 5 stars only because of an angsty situation I thought was not necessary and felt a bit out of place; still, a very good book!

Fun main characters. Grumpy-sunshine. Chronic illness rep. Spicy. A great series and a strong first book. This one is my second favorite of the trilogy. Featuring unique characters you will remember and a strong writing style. I look forward to seeing what she writes next.

my only issue with this book was the pacing, it was really weird. i felt like it was going too fast and yet that it was taking forever to move on. other than that i loved it. i adored the message it sent. very healthy content. i wrote this small review in June and, to this day, i'm still thinking about the book. It's a memorable one and you will not regret picking it up.
