You bought 5 lbs of turmeric? Yes, I did, but it is not because of the taste--which is unappetizing. It's not used for cooking; though, you could make your own curry mix with it. I don't put it in milk as a drink which some people do. What's the deal then? I am thoroughly convinced that the active component of turmeric called curcumin is one of the most healthful herbs you can take. Only about 3 percent of the turmeric powder is curcumin. Research studies have shown some possible benefits of curcumin for: Inflammation, Degenerative eye conditions, Metabolic syndrome, Arthritis, Hyperlipidemia (cholesterol in the blood), Anxiety, Muscle soreness after exercise, Kidney health. Wow! So here's what I do: get a 16 oz Mason jar and put in half a cup or more of turmeric and 2 tablespoons of ground black pepper (Piperine helps with the absorption), and add vodka. Keep shaking it for a few days and you will see that the dark liquid rises to the top. I take a sip of the curcumin tonic after every meal. This is probably the cheapest way to get curcumin in your system. Cheers.
