I assumed that we had a horrible problem with formaldehyde outgassing in our home
It appeared to work when I took it out of the box and immediately gave me a high reading (0.37 ppm). I assumed that we had a horrible problem with formaldehyde outgassing in our home! The next morning we were cooking pancakes and it started reading very high again. Then it settled and the same thing happened with dinner. It seems very sensitive, but sensitive to smells/food, not formaldehyde (the unit was no where near the kitchen.) We live in a 12 year old home that is very tight and I wanted to make sure that we don't have a problem because of some health issues that I am having. I can't tell from this unit because it goes crazy when we cook. We are going to hire a professional company to determine the quality of our air. Wish this unit had worked for me.

Seems to be doing what it is supposed to do.
It initially took about a day to settle down to consistent readings. I bought it to check whether my Lumber Liquidator's bamboo floor was one of the problematic ones with glue problems. Unlike my radon meter, I have not been able to find a cheap laboratory test that I can expose and mail back to to the lab to check the readings. So, verifying the meter's accuracy is a problem.

good luck.
Once you rule out other factors (gases)it worked well......I was checking wood flooring ...so I first put the device in a large glass bowl with a glass lid and allowed the meter to stabilize at one reading...then I put a 6 inch section of wood flooring in the glass bowl until the meter also stabilized...subtract the two readings and you will have a somewhat accurate reading...good luck.

How can you trust this meter?
With all the erratic readings I've been trying to verify if this is correct or not. When closed up my house and my brother's house reregister somewhere around .21 to .39 ppm if I open my house it goes down to .00 to .02 if I do any cleaning it spikes back up to higher levels. So I took it to my mothers house with all older furniture plants no hardwood floor and it spiked up to .75ppm I'm to the point where I highly do not trust this meter. I have no way of assessing its accuracy.
