Osprey Men's Kestrel 68 Hiking Pack (pack of 1)

For years I used my dad's (incredibly old) pack and it always did the job. However, I decided it was time for an upgrade and this was really one hell of an upgrade. My old one never felt heavy on its own and I've done my Duke of Edinburgh gold award with it. The moment I picked this up it felt incredibly light. The front opening is simple yet a genius idea. You can really get into the bag and organise everything instead of just cramming it in. The pockets on the belt would have been very useful if I'd had this bag when I was doing my D of E. It fits me comfortably and allows for much better breathing on my back. However I have no idea what some of the clips are for and cannot for the life of me figure out what they attach to. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of external straps for attaching my sleeping bag and roll mat to the outside. I haven't had the opportunity yet to test the rain cover but the pack so far seems to be excellent and worth your money.

Awesome backpack. Pros: Fits really nice, is waterproof and has really important small pockets that make your life easier.The net behind fresh your back quite well and you can open your bag in the middle (very handy if you need to take something on the bottom of the backpack). Is not a heavy bag and the design is really perfect.Cons: it could have few more space inside, especially when you are taking, tent, mat, and sleeping bag. But still has good space for everything.Overwall, is a perfect backpack!

Got a Kyte 36 for my girlfriend which was of a different league to any smallish backpacks I have ever experienced. My old Norrona,and I mean old is absolutely not weatherproof anymore so got this larger Kestrel male version of the Kyte as a replacement at a very good price. While not as large it's so much lighter. Inbuilt rain cover sorts the weatherproofing. I find it really comfortable (way better than my old backpack) and it is very adjustable. I have the M version I'm 170cm. I understand there is a version for those who are less vertically challenged. Be sure to check Ospreys webpage for size recommendation. They even have an app that finds the right size for you.

Light, compact but with lots of space. Would recommend as a very smart piece of kit.

Excellent pack. Just walked the West highland way with 17kg load. Comfortable and easy to access while on the road. My only concern is water bottles difficult to stow while wearing the pack but the hydra pack system is a must for my next journey.

Very comfortable fit for me (I am 6ft 1in with a slender build, wide shoulders, slim waist). Really practical in terms of all the various storage spaces. Comes with a rain cover. Works well, but I would recommend in heavy rain to ensure your clothes is in waterproof bags or plastic bags. It's not fully water proof. But I've hiked rainy Scotland with it and it was OK.It also feels very light when carrying, assuming the anti gravity system helps. Also the fit. Highly recommend this purchase and the price is reasonable.

My son used the rucksack for his silver DofE and said it was excellent. Lots of storage and space saving options. Very comfortable and easy to wear.

I use this bag for my hiking/ camping gear, as well as wildlife photography gear. I cannot recommend it enough. My load is heavy enough but I found that the Kestrel 68 distributes the weight in a way that makes it feel significantly lighter. Well worth the money.
