Got the job done
Used this puller/install kit on my alpha one gen II and it worked perfectly after getting the hole drilled for the bearing install coupler to be fitted on the steel rod. Drilling the 3/8" hole through the rod was the most difficult part of the whole job. But at least this only has to be done once and you have the tool forever. I cut out a V groove in a 2x4 which held the bar then used a drill press with a c clamp. Be sure to have hardened bits intended for steel as it will make your life easier(worth the extra few bucks). I also staged my bits by starting with a 1/8" then worked my way up to the 3/8".

Pays to have the right tools
This is a quality tool. Debated about this manufacturer vs the other look alike. This one cost more but sounded better made. Wasn’t disappointed with this purchase at all. Greased the threads like the instructions said to. Removed gimbal bearing in about 2 minutes. It is so much easier when you actually buy the tools that you need. Was going to go the slide hammer route and seen a bunch of people struggling in videos online. Do yourself a favor and get this combo with the puller and the engine alignment tool with the bearing installer. If your going to work on your boat yourself your already saving lots of money. Don’t punish yourself by trying to do it without these two tools. I will say having to drill the hole in the alignment shaft wasn’t a lot of fun. You are not going to do this with a cordless drill. We had to clamp it down on a drill press and start with very small bits slowly building up to correct size. Also used automatic transmission fluid to keep the bits cool. This took a solid 30-45 minutes to drill. I read about someone using an o ring to mark the shaft. I used daughters pony tail rubber band thing. Don’t know technical term. Lol. Before you pull your old bearing out your going to insert the alignment tool with bearing install collar into the boat. Put the hair tie thing behind the collar between you and the collar. After you put the tool into the engine the hair tie will slide with the collar as you push. Then it holds the spot after you remove the tool. Slide the collar a quarter inch forward and mark the hole where bolt goes with a sharpie. Commence drilling and goodluck. Put the new gimbal bearing in the freezer overnight, lubed with some 3 in one oil. Installed with the tool no problem. Surprised at how smooth whole process went

This tool worked perfectly! A must have tool for your boat!
The tool worked perfectly. The instructions were adequate. Bearing was out in less than 1 minute. Yes you can drill the hole with a cordless drill. I did it. The best gimble tool I've ever seen! Worth the money for sure!

Works well and seems well made.
This did the job flawlessly. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is having to drill the bar to install the gimbal bearing. Marking the correct location isn't very difficult but drilling through this steel bar perfectly straight so the bolt screws into the collar is tricky.

Well built
The puller works great. My gimbal bearing was stuck and the puller pulled it right out.

Must have tool
Job couldn’t have been done without this tool. Was on the fence about buying a tool I might only use a few time but once it was used I was happy I had it.
