I really love this movie and I couldn't buy it in-store so I bought it here, it came in a nice case and was in great condition. I bought it a couple years ago and it's still in good condition.

Hilarious!
If you like Will Ferrel you should really love this movie. It's on par with his other comedy films, but Jon Heder really makes it stand out, and I think the two work really well together. The whole premise of the movie is preposterous, but that's what makes it so great. Definitely a must-watch for Ferrel and Heder fans alike!

and a wonderfully comedic script all contribute to make Blades of Glory ...
Fire and Ice Genius casting, original plot, perfectly compatible soundtrack, and a wonderfully comedic script all contribute to make Blades of Glory a timeless, “never gets old” type of movie. Chazz Michael Michaels, “an ice devouring sex tornado”, and Jimmy MacElroy, “skating’s little orphan awesome”, pair up to create the biggest scandal in figure skating yet. After years of quarreling build up to a physical altercation that leads to the two being stripped of their gold medals and banned from figure skating for life, they find a loophole in the rule book and register together in pairs figure skating. Despite butting heads regularly, Jimmy and Chazz begin to form a bond over Jimmy’s crush on Katie Van Waldenburg, sister of their competitors Stranz and Fairchild Van Waldenburg. Jimmy and Chazz have clashing personalities in every aspect, but manage to form an unbreakable friendship and build their skills as they attempt the most dangerous feat in skating history, the Iron Lotus all while refuting the sabotage attempts being laid out by the Van Waldenburg’s. The only question is, will they execute the move and not each other? Will Ferrell plays sex addicted Chazz Michael Michaels, and makes every scene so believable that you forget he’s also played characters like Buddy the Elf and Ricky Bobby. He absorbs the role with facial expressions and grunts of exhaustion that take his acting to a whole new level, particularly the strain heard in his voice when he breaks his ankle. Jon Heder plays Jimmy MacElroy, a role not so different than that of Napoleon Dynamite. Heder suits his role perfectly with his natural awkwardness and innocence, easily seen in his line, “I got my face painted at the blueberry festival one year”. Also recognizable is Amy Poehler as Fairchild Van Waldenburg. Poehler portrays her character’s personality with perfect facial expressions that radiate with jealousy and bring the character to life. Each actor/actress delivers their lines with purpose and direction, emphasizing their character’s individual mannerisms and personality.A good soundtrack can grant significant improvement to any movie. George Drakoulias, music supervisor for Blades of Glory, carefully assigns each scene with a song to convey the mood that he wants the audience to feel. In particular, the various skating scenes in the movie are matched up with music that fits not only the routine but also the respective personalities of the characters performing the routine.Along with great actors and an awesome soundtrack, Blades of Glory was given a well-written and comedic script. The script was crafted so well that you’ll find yourself quoting line after line, which gives the movie a fun, timeless quality. The movie is so quotable that Kanye West and Jay-Z inserted sound bits from the movie into one of their songs, they used a conversation between Chazz and Jimmy, “I don’t even know what that means… No one knows what it means, but it's provocative… No, it's not, it's gross...It gets the people going!” This can be accredited to the brilliant screenwriters Dave Krinsky and John Altschuler, who have worked together in the past writing scripts for things like Beavis and Butt-head and King of the Hill. From the sex jokes delivered by Will Ferrell, the innocence portrayed by Jon Heder, and the antics carried out by Amy Poehler, the film is truly one of Fire and Ice, which coincides with the theme for Chazz and Jimmy’s first pairs skating routine. Blades of Glory is 93 minutes of comedy, figure skating, and friendship that you’ll be quoting for years to come.

Sometimes even an oktaku can love the greatness of the genuinely funny.
Okay, so this is ridiculous. So are things like koala bears and turtles (have you seen them? Why are they still alive?) But we still love them. This whole movie is exactly that kind of wonderful. The first two, three or eight times I watched this with my daughter I was offended. Okay, maybe until time number five. But the excellent acting, the fact that no one cares how fake it looks and the idiocy of the entire thing makes with movie exquisite. It funny, its engaging and anyone who loves ice skating but is not a snob will love it. Its two guys that you never, at first, think are hot but they become exactly that in the fullness. It is a comedy that takes something incredible and makes just enough fun to make you laugh while it still reminds you while you love ice skating so very much. Damn, now I'm going to have to watch it again. Throw me a roll...

A Film Worth Watching...
This film does give us that stereotypical plotline about the underdog team coming together, overcoming all obstacles and nefairious opponents, and winning the championships (sorry if I spoiled it for you there...the sport is the film is ice skating, by the way.) But with Will Ferrell starring, this film is anything but "average" or "ordinary"...just watch the scene where he's drunk at the kiddie ice show...if you're not busting a gut, you may need to have your head examined. As a sidenote, I will say that this film doesn't measure up to Taladegia Knights, a film of Will Ferrell's that was so amazing that I will be comparing all his past, present, and future works to it from now on. This film definetely holds it's own in that catagory. Playing opposite Mr. Ferrell is Jon Heder as the "leading lady" (watch the film to get the joke there.) As another sidenote, I was highly impressed when I found out that Mr. Heder actually speaks Japanese fluently and didn't just learn enough for that scene...I just like when an actor brings something extra like that to a production. Oh, and sorry about your ankle, Mr. Heder. Anyway, these two were the highlight of the movie (shocking since they were it's stars, but those titles were well-earned.) Playing opposite them were Will Arnett and Amy Poehler, a real-life married couple who played siblings for the film (can't quite wrap my head around that one...they did come off creepy, which I guess was the point.) Playing this dasderly duo's younger sister is Jenna Fischer. While I have no doubt that Miss Fischer has talent as an actress, I didn't really buy into the innocence and timidness that she was trying to portray...I think it worked better for Jon Heder's character. But in my book, none of these characters could surpass the performance given by Craig T. Nelson, the coach for the underdog skating team. As a former athlete, I have seen my fair share of coaches and how they behave. Mr. Nelson aserts himself as an authoritative presence as any coach should while adding just enough comedic characteristics to make me wanna keep watching him...if there's ever a sequel to this film, it should just be him coaching. Overall, this film is better than the stereotypical underdog film because of it's comedy and the cast bringing that comedy to us. If ever there was a film to buy and keep in this catagory, Blades of Glory is it.

Must see
Blades of Glory is the story of Chazz Michael Michaels (Ferrel) and Jimmy MacElroy (Heder), two rival ice skaters banned from competition after a podium brawl at an "Olympic" event. After Jimmy's stalker finds a loophole in the rulebook (yes, you read that right), the pair join forces to reclaim their rightful position at the top of the skating rankings. While it follows the predictable rise, fall, and rise again pattern of most comedies, Blades of Glory is different enough to be memorable. The costumes are ridiculous, the set-pieces are brilliant , and the performances, what these films hinge on, are excellent.Overall, Blades of Glory is hilarious. Pretty much every aspect of it is fantastically overblown, and it keeps you laughing quite steadily for its 90-minute running time.

We’re going to listen to one film and one film only
After struggling for ages to find this movie on streaming platforms, I finally gave in and purchased it and I was not left disappointed! ( well with the exception of Netflix adding it to their collection shortly after…alas, I still have it for when it wavers back off again )

Warning: *SILLY FILM* - please leave your intellectual expectations at the door
If you're looking for Ingmar Bergman, this won't be the film for you! This is a film to put on when your mates are round after the pub has closed and you all want a good laugh - the storyline is linear, the characterisations large and brash. All the better for it too.It reminds me of Rob Reiner at times, in the way that the director cuts to interviews with the main protagonists and presents scenes through the form of television shows. But this writer and director are new generation Rob Reiners - ones who have spent too much sniffing the gluepot to be accorded the reputation that their more serious forerunners received? Maybe so.

Hilarious film almost perfect on Blu-ray
The film is great - funny, silly and over-the-top. The Blu-ray is better than the DVD. One problem (hence 4 stars) is that the Blu-ray really exposes the face replacement CGI on some of the skating sequences. It's not the end of the world but it does jar. Admittedly you could see the CGI on the DVD version but with the added resolution and detail here, it is quite noticeable. However this is more than made up for by the super sharp titles during the skating intros and by the extra rich and deep colours on the crazy costumes. Very highly recommended! Oh... and some of the extras - seemingly the same ones as the DVD release - are nice in HD!

Incomprehensibly hilarious
There is absolutely no reason why I should like this movie. It's jockstrap humour at its most extreme; there is no real story to follow, the characters are utterly two-dimensional, the staging is brittle and yet- and yet- I have seen this three times now, and my stupid laughter throughout elicited tuts and raised eyebrows from the 397 people on the plane who hadn't seen it. The rest just smirked. Because, in spite of it all, this is pretty close to comic genius: for a first go round for both directors and screenplay writers, it is a phenomenon. There is no reason in the world for you to enjoy this movie, but I strongly suspect you will. Highly, highly recommended.
