The granules are not uniform in shape or size but I'd say approximately 2mm

I'm no expert but Betta fish are carnivorous and need a protein-rich meaty food specifically for Bettas. So this is not recommended. TRY Tetra 77256 TetraBetta PLUS Mini Pellets.

Are granules the best type of food for lyretail mollies?

I wouldnt say "best". All TetraMin foods are formulated to provide the needs of common aquarium fish. Flakes are the standby due to floating & giving fish more opportunity to feed before sinking. If your only feeding 1 type of food Id suggest flakes but my fish love these. I mix several types of Tetra foods together as I have many kinds of fish in different tanks. This certainly would provide the nutrients your fish need.

The instructions recommend combining along with a diet of tetra flakes. is this necessary or can i just feed granules as only food source

Thank you for your question A. Farber; it's a fairly common one! Fish are very similar to other animal species in regards to nutrition. You have carnivores (cichlids), omnivores (majority such as tetras, gouramis, barbs, catfish), and vegetarians (plecostomus and other algae eating fish, mollies, severums) so what you feed your tank will really depend on the types of fish you are housing. Most tanks have a mix of the various types, and one type of food might not meet all of their needs. So for example, if you have tetras, mollies, and catfish or algae eaters, you would want flakes or granules for the tetras, along with Tetra Veggie Flakes for the mollies, and a sinking tablet for the catfish or algae eaters. However, if your tank only houses large cichlids, you could easily just feed a Tetra Cichlid food of the correct size and shape for the types of cichlids you own, and not another food source. Many fish do better with supplemental foods added to the diet, however, such as freeze dried bloodworms or shrimp. Whatever you feed, make sure you feed twice a day, only what they can eat within 30 seconds or less. If the food is able to drift down far enough in the tank the fish do not get it, you are feeding too much. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Granules don't mush in water,, a good thing!

Excellent quality. Float for a few seconds then kind of, slowly decend. Fish love hunting them down. Granules don't mush in the water so, crawfish and crab get plenty too 😁

Works great in my feeder

I stopped manually feeding a while back and found these as a perfect food for the feeder. My freshwater tank has healthy pretty fish that do well on this food. Does not cloud the water and get eaten right away

Decent fish food for the price. I have multiple types of fish and this appears to be a great option for them. This food is very easy to use and does not have a strong smell. The fish food seems to be high quality and long lasting. The fish food is multicolored and appears to be easy to digest.

All food sinks, this one a little faster

Food appears to be good quality. I switched from a flake food (Fluval bug larvae) to this. Top feeders were confused. Bottom feeders okay with it. Usually, feeding time is pretty voracious in my tank. Not so with this food, since it sinks quickly. I tried it for a couple days and the fish just went "meh". Switched back to flakes. Food gone in three minutes.
