Pleasantly surprised - very good buy
I bought these pens because I draw in ink with a fountain pen and I have just discovered the Japanese Fude nibs. I wanted to use different colour inks, and in particualar waterproof ink. Waterproof ink and fountain pens are not a good mix, you can easily ruin your pen, so I thought I would try this set as it isn't very expensive and at the worst if I ruined them it wouldn't break the bank.I was really surprised and how nice they are. They are plastic in very bright colours, they have a see through body so you can see the ink and each comes with a converter so you can fill straight from a bottle. Please note there is no ink included with these pens. The pens also come in a plastic case, really handy to store them in.I have filled and tested 9 of them already and the flow has been quite good. I will update when I have had them for a little while, but I don't think you can go far wrong with this set. It works out at £1.40 for each pen. I have pens that cost more than this that are not as good!If you have never tried a fude nib before it is worth trying. I find I can draw with just the one pen as the nib makes both thick and thin strokes depending how you hold it.

Really Pleased.
I love fountain pens, and I suppose I should place quality above everything else. The truth is, quantity is just as important as quality for me.I had to go for this purchase because: a) They are modestly priced b) They are Jinhao and c) There are twelve of them.Jinhao occupies the modest price section of the market. They do a few £3 to £5 pens but loads of cheaper ones which are all plastic except for the nib, yet still write smoothly. It seems to me that they always get the nib right. Also, they always accept the International Standard cartridges which are always cheaper - probably because they are the most common. There is no pocket clip. That seemed strange at first, but then I realised that I never carry them that way. These pens appear to be aimed at young users, hence a little Sharkfin. I was surprised that it was an asset - the pens didn't roll off the table.I liked the many different colours - the wife likes pink, green and violet ink, so I can put those colour inks in the appropriate colour pen.The cap screws on and off. I'm pleased with that. I have some cheap Jinhaos, all plastic and caps that click on. They write nicely but soon the cap splits where it clicks on. This renders the pen unusable, the cap won't stay on and the nib dries out. I consider this a design fault and I'm glad Jinhao have abandoned it for this model. These screw caps are much better.I spent an enjoyable evening filling the pens with ink and writing/doodling with them. I filled the black one and it didn't want to write. I filled the other eleven and they worked without fault. I went back to the black one and it worked. Why it was slower to start I couldn't tell you. I'm pleased with my purchase. Not one dud amongst them, and they come in a nice box.

Great writing fun pens at a great price
The pens arrived quickly in a nice protective case housing 12 pens in varied colours. The pens have a screw off cap which has a shark head shape (there is the fin and the shark appears to have a smile and some gill markings!). This pen is a cartridge convertor and comes with a standard ink convertor. The pen should be able to take standard international cartridges. The section is ergonomic with an indent for thumb and index finger (works for right and left handed people) and is very comfortable to hold (measure 10-11mm). The section is translucent so functions as an ink window so can tell when pen is running out of ink. The cap posts securely. The pen measures 154mm capped(and posted). Uncapped it measure 125mm. It is comfortable to write with posted and unposted. The nib writes with a fine-medium line and is smooth.I am impressed with this pen especially for the amazing price. It is well made and writes well. As with most Chinese pens I recommend flushing the pen through before use (either with soapy water followed by plain water or alternatively fill and empty the convertor 3-4 times with the ink you are going to use) to ensure the flow is good from the beginning. Also if using the ink convertor make sure this is properly and securely pushed in before use. Great pens to use day to day or as gifts to get people into fountain pens.

so far impressed
I am impressed with the packaging and the way these pens are presented. a beautiful sleeve and the case is rigid suitable as a pen case when the disposable pens have been used up. I have not used them yet but if the quality is anything like the box they should be brilliant. I will update when I have sampled the pens. here is the update. I expected pens filled with ink and no way to refill them but they are refillable which was a pleasant surprise but you get an empty pen that was my naivety. having said that they are a delight to use. very smooth fine nib which you expect from a top end fountain pen. they will be great for writing and will be a dream for sketching and drawing. well worth 5 stars.

Cheap, but cheerful.
I really only bought these to see what they were like (with a view to possibly swapping the nibs out if they were any good). The shark design is fun (aimed at kids?) and the transparent grip helps you see how much ink is in the pen, but the nibs are very thin (more like EF than F), and the first pen didn't want to make a mark at all, out of the box. I'm trying to see if I can tune them a bit to get a better line out of them (the second one I tried was a bit better than the first), but really, the best thing about these pens is the box they are supplied in, which I may use for other items.Update: I came back to add a star, because I tried washing the other pens first (soaking in soapy water), and that solved a lot of the ink flow issues. So, oil or some such in the nib. They are still very thin to write with, and I still intend to tweak them, because they write more like a ballpoint or rollerball. But at least they are useable! (Also, it's fun being able to match a pen to an ink colour! :-)
