anyone else experience rusting inside?

Yes. My first one rusted inside at the bottom and also leaking after 3 months or so.I thouhgt I was just unlucky, so I purchaed another one.My second one also rusted inside at the bottom only after 2 monoths.I had enough, so I purchaed Aroma brand (shiny stainless steel) - about $30. I had it now only 3 months. So far, no problem....

No to soup...only for hot water.

Yes, the body of the kettle is 100% stainless. The plastic handle and lid do not touch the water at all -- the plastic parts are only on the outside.

The bottom of the kettle reads "made in China."
