Metolius Recon Crash Pad Black/Gray::The Metolius Recon Crash Pad folds up small for easy transportation. But when opened, it offers more landing area than standard-size crash pads. Its cleverly designed shape manages to be four inches narrower when folded than most pads, yet its new sandwich foam design allows excellent shock absorption when you have to bail from above. Ballistic nylon on the bottom boosts durability, while a small external and larger internal pocket give you easy spots for your shoes, chalk bag, and keys.

Awesome
When I first started shopping for crash pads, a friend told me "forget about those 2 panel pads, they'll work for a while and then you realize its not big enough and then you have to get another one to put next to it. So you might as well just get the tri-fold crash pad upfront". Additionally, it's big enough to sleep on after you're done climbing. The foam in this feels pretty solid. I've been using it for the last year and it hasn't seemed to show any wear so far. The backpack straps are fine- nothing special there. I like the way the thing folds up and hooks together. This crash pad fits perfectly in the trunk of my 2005 Honda Civic, but is too big for some of my friend's trunks. We have had to put it flat on the back seat or vertical behind the passenger seat.Despite being kind of expensive, overall I would 100% buy this again. Nothing is more important than safety when you're out climbing!

GREAT PAD
Used this pad in a live theater performance show jumping off a platform falling about 4 feet onto it was great protection. Folds up and fits in the trunk of my impala.

This pad is just OK one simple thing would make it better
I like the size of this pad and the way if folds up but after only a year of regular use the foam is pretty blown out. Metolius should really look into some better foam that last longer. This is my second Metolius pad and I will NOT be buying another due to there cheap foam.
