Zodiac R0444300 PDA Handheld with Batteries Replacement Kit for Zodiac Jandy AquaLink PDA Control System

After 5 years in operation, purchased a replacement PDA as I got water in the original unit.The new PDA communicates better with the system brain than original unit. Except for a bit harder to turn the unit on (I have to bury the small button to make it come on) than the old unit, the new unit PDA has not demonstrated the aggrevating inefficency of ignoring the buttons. Thus far, every time I depress any of the buttons, the unit immediately responds.

We never had the original remote to our pool (was broken when we bought the house) so I have nothing to compare to. However, it works fabulous for us. We needed it in order to re-program the pool (you can't do it from the actual unit) so we sucked it up and payed the money. It's worth it to change the pool setting from the couch! It IS water proof and floats (gets left outside in the rain/sun all the time). It synced to our pool with no problems whatsoever. This was also the best price we could find.

Worked perfectly in replacing my old unit that our dog chewed up. Only thing you have to do is locate the broadcast point (mounted outside usually and reset it and it synced and worked immediately.

Our last Zodiac stopped working - somehow water got in it. Was not sure if I could order one over the internet and have it work without programming the "system". Could not get our pool guy to order a new one so I took a chance and order it through amazon. It works!!! Just place the batteries in and ta-da, works great. This vendor shipped really fast and I am very happy with my purchase.

This PDA is slightly less expensive than other similar models -- however, there has been something wrong with it since we first got it. The screen errors when we turn it on, displaying a single horizontal line, and nothing on the controller fixes it. We need to remove the batteries and if we are lucky, it works again. Even though I'm outside my official 'return' window, I've contacted the seller to replace --- I'm hoping we get a better unit, one that works consistently ... for now, if you are looking for a PDA for your Jandy system, I advise you look elsewhere.

Worked just fine after following the setup. My pool was set to a different channel so I had to follow the link instructions. Took less than 5 minutes and it worked like a charm. You do get the white and blue controller versus the black one. Really fast shipping as it came in three days.

Replaced 8 year old model 8265 that died. The old one would disconnect and reboot a lot the new one works great no more constant rebooting.
