Amazing heating pad. Bought it for wife, who loves this heating pad. It warms in the microwave(what we were looking for), not the plug in type. It's filled with rice. We have not tried chilling it in the freezer for cold, but the heating works wonders for my wife's tight neck and upper shoulders. Instantly loosens and warms the muscles to provide excellent relief of stiff neck and shoulders and the pain associated with this. After heating it smells like hot rice, but, only if you hold the pads to your nose. It's not overpowering. There are no cons as of yet. Based on the effects and price, this is a 5 star product.Cons: My wife was late to work this morning. She claims the best night's sleep because of relief from neck and shoulder pain and stiffness. She says she slept like a baby and that's what caused her to be late to work.

Microwave neck heating pad works very well and the fit was great. My wife uses the heating pad a lot and really likes it.

I like the gentle warmth this pad gives my shoulders. I had problems with tight shoulder muscles for years and using this pad has reduced the pain and discomfort considerably. I am using it every day and it looks well enough made to last a long time.

I bought this heating pad at the suggestion of a co-worker and it's okay, nothing spectacular. I find it heats unevenly and doesn't stay warm more than 5 minutes. After seeing all the negative reviews and photos of burnt rice, I am hesitant to use it again. As for the weight, I find it a bit too heavy to be comfortable for more than a few minutes. The covering is soft and I haven't found it to have a smell even after microwaving.Not sure how other reviewers are getting a moist heat from this, as the instructions state not to submerge in water. Or for that matter how to use it to cool down, it's designed (according to the manufacturer) for heat therapy.Would I buy it again? No. Would I recommend it to a friend? No.

Ordered after I saw my massage therapist with one. I would go as far as to say this is a life-changing product. My only note is while the directions say it can be warmed directly from freezer storage, it does not get as warm as I would like with the standard 2 minute microwaving time. To avoid damaging the product, I've resolved this by removing it from the freezer ~30 minutes before putting it in the microwave for heat therapy. I thought about putting it in the microwave for a longer time, but since that is not mentioned in the directions, and I want to keep this in tip-top shape, I figured letting it get closer to room temperature before microwaving is a sustainable solution.I've used it cold on swollen and tender pectorals after an especially intense massage therapy session. After chugging water and wearing the shoulder wrap frontwards and backwards until it reached room temperature, my muscles were no longer "angry." Overall I am very pleased with my neck and shoulder wrap--it has exceptional quality and I would go even further and say it is not only physically therapeutic but mentally therapeutic as well.I've taken to using it for heat therapy every night before bed--being sure to have a layer of clothing between the wrap and my bare skin. It's like a lullaby for my muscles and allows me to let go of the day, focus on the comfort, and gently slip into a wonderful night's sleep.

Just what I wanted- something that wrapped around my neck AND shoulders- heats evenly and stays warm long enough- very happy with my purchase!

Fits around the neck and shoulders which is wonderful. It doesn't stay warm long enough for me but i did purchase one for a friend. It's worth the investment

I have stiff neck and tight shoulders and this works great for pain relief. I've bought a few heat wraps on Amazon and this is the best one. Quality is much higher!
