Do the photo buttons light up when the assigned number calls the phone?

Hi - The photo speed dial buttons will not light up if the assigned number calls the VTech SN5147. Instead, the Caller ID is displayed on the screen of the base and handset if you are subscribed to Caller ID service from your provider. Also, the Visual Ringer Indicator on the base and handset flashes. Thank you for your interest!

Is answering machine included?

Yes it is, and messages are crystal clear. You can even press a button on your device that will slow down the callers messages which comes in very handy when jotting down notes or phone numbers that the caller may leave.

If you are referring to the ringer volume when there is an incoming call, the answer is yes. Please note that the ringer volume of the main base is independent from the handset ringer. Here's how you can adjust the volume of the base and handset ringer: 1. Press Menu when the handset is not in use. 2. Press ▼ or ▲ to scroll to Ringers, then press Select. 3. Press ▼ or ▲ to choose Handset or Base, then press Select. 4. Press Select to select Ringer Volume. 5. Press ▼ or ▲ to hear the sample of each volume level. 6. Press Select to save your preference.
