Does not work .... yet
So what is in the box?A USED iDIV-7P card (see picture)A tiny drivers disk with non-functioning driversA fumbled leftover of a anti-static bagA one sheet manualA business card from iDsonix Customer SupportThe card is a clone of the more expensive Orico and is based on the VIA VL800 – VL812 chipsetI inserted the mini disk but the disc was not readable (also tried on my laptop and external DVD drive with no success)Went to the iDsonix website and hurrah! They have "THE LATEST" driver.Downloaded the driver but could not find it in “my downloads” folderThe file had no extension!!!!I renamed it xxxx.exe but it wasn't an exeI renamed it xxx.zip and I could read the files.I installed the drivers but they crashed halfway through the installing process. (could not find some files)Furthermore, their “latest driver” is dated 2011 (version 1.xx)According to Via-Labs, the latest version is 4.40 (released on Jan 2014)Note that Windows 8 is supported from version 2.10 (April 2013)Windows 8.1 is supported from version 4.20 (Aug 2013)I contacted iDsonix customer support but haven't heard from them!Note the scratches and indents around the card mounting whole. This is what iDsonix sells as NEWI will update this review when I hear from iDsonix

Did it kill my external drives?
Easy to install, drivers went in quick and tested out great. The only caution I have is shortly after installing this (3 months) I had two of my external drives fail within a month of each other giving the click of death. One was an IO Safe which I've had running without any problems for 4 years. Coincidence or did the card somehow cause an impossible hardware failure. Since then I've moved my other 3 drives back to my mainboard USB. Did anyone else experience this too?

Does not work very well - The Device can not ...
Does not work very well - The Device can not properly identify it self to Windows 8.1. I tried this with the new Windows 10 tech preview and it was not working well either. When my PC is booting up - the device does receive power (i tested with a USB stick that lights up) but as soon as the OS kicks in - nothing. Blaah - I should have spent the money and gone with what I know works... Windows cna see the device but since the device fails to identify itself -it shuts it down

This Card Cured my USB 2.0 Blues
Works great on Windows 7 x64. Drivers come on a mini-CDR, and they are also available online. Over USB 3.0, my external hard drive is finally able to reach its full potential. 85MB/sec average speed on a 12GB file from an external hard drive is awesome, and I never got those speeds over USB 2.0. My case is a little older, and it doesn't have the connector to connect to a USB 3.0 header on the motherboard, so I chose this card because it has 2 standard USB 3.0 connectors for the inside of the case. No issues with the card and it's met my performance expectations.

can play nicely or not with firmwares
can play nicely or not with firmwares, should come with a list of BIOS drivers that it works with there aren't that many variants out there.

Great product, Great Price!
Works as advertised. For the people having problems installing the driver, this isn't an .exe file. It does not execute. Once device is plugged in to the slot power on machine go to device manger find your newly listed USB device, click on properties, driver, update drive, then browse the CD to the Windows folder. Click install. I also then had to install the driver again when windows discovered USB Root. Repeat the steps listed and BAM! You now have USB 3.0.

Great device
As long as you remember to plug the power connection, and load the drivers, it works perfectly. No problems and am using every connection on it. It's cheaper than an external hub and does the job, so I highly recommend it.The driver disc it comes with my drive could not read, so here is a link to the drivers from their website:http://www.idsonix.com/supportsYou obviously need the 7p driver. Load them and you are good to go.
