Works as expected
This is great. Good size. Easy to clean. Lid closes as expected and prevents my other cats from eating prescription food.Easy to program, and it only took my senior cat 1 week to master.

Works as advertised
This works perfectly. My (now overweight) cat was sneaking in the side of his sister's feeder to eat with her. This keeps him from accessing it.

Love/Hate
I love that it works. It attaches well to the feeder and does what it’s intended and that’s keep the sneaky kitty out of the back. I hate that it’s needed and that it’s almost $40. Why in the world are the feeders not just made enclosed? What is the point in keeping the back open? It’s maddening but the feeders themselves are total game changers so you get all pissed off and continue to checkout. This gets 5 stars because it’s worth 5 stars. If I were rating the feeder itself it would get less because it shouldn’t be made to require this piece in the first place.Edit to add: Will not stop your fatty from sneaking next to your cat and eating with them… had to spend even MORE money on Etsy to get 3D printed cat head shaped attachments for the front of the feeders to allow only one cat at a time. Works like a charm. A million dollars later and this feeder is awesome.

A must-have accessory
This hood is probably a necessary accessory for the majority of cats using the feeder it attaches to. It's too bad it isn't built right into the main product, but maybe having it separate keeps the cost down for the cases where the other cat(s) aren't aggressive enough to steal food out the back of the feeder when it is opened by the authorized cat.The hood is pretty easy to snap on and stays in place. A cat isn't going to be able to remove it. However, the lid does bang against it when it opens, which might startle your cat, especially when (s)he's still getting used to the feeder. The sound also helps alert my fat cat that the treasure chest is open. I was able to reduce the noise a bit with some adhesive felt pads right where each corner of the lid strikes the hood. The hood does eliminate the problem of another cat being able to get around the open lid and eat food that isn't theirs. My fat cat still just pushes his skinny brother aside and eats his fill while "Skinny" passively waits or just walks away. If the lid would close when the authorized cat was no longer in range that would help a lot, but maybe it's a safety feature that it stays open as long as it senses something inside the feeder. Anyway, that's not a shortcoming of the back hood, which works as intended.Even though it seems pretty expensive for what it is, it does work and blends into the rest of the product as though it was always there. I'm glad it's available and I didn't have to rig something up myself to close the back of the feeder. Now if only they'd make a similar tunnel-like attachment for the front to keep Fatty from being able to push his way in before the lid can close.

I think it’s dumb it’s sold separately but it does work how it should
I’m salty I had to buy this separate but it gets 5 stars bc it works. It’s simple, straightforward installation, high quality. It should come with the feeder in the first place in my opinion for what you pay for it, and this. Selling it separate feels like a cash grab but whatever, it’s what I needed, it works as it’s supposed to, and that is enough.

Exceptional!
This is the greatest cat product I’ve ever purchased!! I purchased two because we have 2 cats, one is a little hoglet who will eat everything from two bowls, the other is a skinny scaredy cat that takes tiny meals several times a day, so both need different feeding schedules…tiresome. These feeders allow us to have both cats on their own feeding schedule. We just put a 1/4 cup of food in each feeder in the morning, and Voilà! One’s not eating every thing and getting fat, the other eats enough to keep fat on her bones on her bones. I highly recommend this product if you have two or more cats with different feeding needs and schedules.

This should be included with the original feeder, and still did not work for me
For what this product actually is (a simple piece of plastic that snaps to the back), the price is outrageous and given the price of the actual feeder should be included. Additionally, this did not help, which isn't surprising - if the animals head is small enough to get through the back, then they will just turn around and go in through the front alongside the animal it is intended for. This creates a standoff situation where either both eat, or neither eat depending on your settings. Useless.

expensive but absolutely necessary if you have a stubborn cat
I shelled out so much money for this microchip feeder, only for my very stubborn cat to keep sticking his head through the back and continue to eat the other cat's food. This rear cover was absolutely necessary to prevent this. And it works well for that! My stubborn cat can't stick his head in the back while the other cat is eating. This system isn't foolproof, however. He still may try to stick his head in to squeeze in next to her while she's eating (because it's wide and I assume designed for fat cats) and if she leaves, he still might be able to grab a quick bite before it closes. But with this back cover, it does a much better job preventing him from eating most of her food.
