Yes the paints become more pastel than bold colors, that being said the colors do transfer, my 4 year old daughter loves them and they are something she can do all on her own! I love the quantity foe the price, they work great for what they are. If your looking for an easy art and craft project a kid can do on their own this works great. If your looking for something to treasure forever as a little masterpiece of your child I would go with something else.

We never used this brand of paint books before so the triplets were super excited when they arrived. Our first shipment got lost so they waited quite a bit longer than the two days we expected. When they did finally arrive we were ready to get painting! If you choose not to cut off the bottom paint part beware that your paper will get torn up. The trick is to use as little water as necessary so that you don't ruin the paper before you finish your picture. Since these are so cheap I think they are worth it.

My little one loves to paint with these. They keep my little one occupied for 30 minutes at a time. I'd recommend using a cheap paintbrush, like the ones you'd find for children at the dollar store. Or the ones that come in the cheap water color sets. They have plastic type bristles. They don't soak up water well. You don't want too much water to get onto the paint portion of the paper or it does rip through.

Papa for my daughter for daycare for Valentine's Day party and these are super super cute and I have seen these at the dollar store but they only have certain ones and I like this set because it came in varieties for boys and girls which is perfect and they're so easy to use and they're wonderful size. That would buy it from him again even if the dollar store does have them out I'm here

The pictures are very nice but the paper isn't thick enough and it rips. Also the color runs out pretty fast. We had eight children from 3 to 10 y.o. using these and because of the issues above didn't keep their attention very long. Also the books are quite small. Will probably cut the paint part off and they'll just color them.

The books and paints are not at all what I expected. Have purchased several paint with water books over the years and these are miserable. The paint is so thin that even I, using a tiny brush and tiny amounts of water could not color even half of a picture. Really pathetic attempt at something that should be more closely quality controlled. Will avoid anything with that brand name in future.

Cheap cheap cheap! They make a huge mess and the water leaks through and deteriorates the page even if you just gently use a q tip

My mother bought one of these for my daughter from a local store. It was $3.00 for one, so this is an awesome value. Plus, it is so fun to play with (at least my 3 year old thinks so). There is no mess, and she's occupied for a while.
