If you have a favorite color that isn't already offered as an offical Joycon colorway, or have any inkling of persuasion to be unique and let your stuff stand out from others, then you're doing yourself a disservice by not getting a custom shell.eXtremeRate offers a fantastic selection of aesthetically pleasing colors that, for the most part, all go together quite nicely, so it's hard to go wrong if you want to mix and match. I had a hard time deciding between various combinations of white, heaven blue, sakura pink, and light violet. The only suggestion for improvement I have in terms of the selection here is that I wish you could buy the halves separately, as duo-tone Joycons are kind of the precedent set by Nintendo.Quality is top-notch. While the shell and buttons do have a different texture than OEM, they feel every bit as sturdy and are virtually identical to official Joycons. The internals fit perfectly and lined up with every notch and screw hole during the shell swapping operation. The aforementioned different texture on these is just slightly more rubbery/silicone-y, but not at all like the sticky or friction-y kind that picks up all the lint as soon as it touches your pocket lining; I consider it an improvement over the original.While this has nothing to do with the product itself, assembly is pretty dang hard. I wish it were as simple as just unscrewing the plastic case and putting on a new one, but you have to disassemble pretty much the whole controller and migrate multiple layers of parts into the new shells. It's not exaggerating at all when people say expect it to take 3-5 hours for your first try! Fortunately the kit includes the two kinds of screwdriver needed, though it goes by easier if you have your own higher-quality tools.I wouldn't say there is much risk of damaging your Joycons as long as you're careful, have the right tools, and follow a tutorial. Some skills you will need that I would have prepared my past self for: unscrewing some of the outside screws without stripping them (fortunately the kit includes replacement screws that are Philips head instead of tri-wing); pulling out and re-plugging in ribbon cables (you'll absolutely need steady hands and some tweezers or needle-nose pliers), and possibly having to click certain pieces into place like LEGO.Those hours of work paid off, and I'm in love with how they turned out! Definitely way more attached to my Switch now that it has a custom shell and Joycons. I'm honestly tempted to buy an extra set of Joycons or two just to do more custom colorways and mix them around; we'll see. In the meantime, I absolutely recommend getting some for yourself. Shell swapping made out to be a fantastic DIY project that's ultra rewarding and satisfying in the end and really helps make your Switch feel like your own.

The media could not be loaded. The process of switching the shell was not easy but it was cool to learn. Followed instructions on YT video. All tools needed are included although I found the Y screwdriver was not great and had to use one I already had. R joycon took about 3 hours, L joycon about 45 minutes. Wish the shells would come with SL/SR buttons to replace the original colors, I noticed some color shells do include them but the grey violet did not. Quality of shell feels good and smooth to touch. Really happy overall and already purchased a second color to do my other joycon set.

I ordered this product in Matcha Green as well as a separate listing by the same company for the button replacements (also in Matcha Green) because I didn't like the buttons included in this listing. If there is a listing for just the joycon shells without buttons, I didn't see it.Taking apart my joycons was actually pretty easy for me, but it was a bit time-consuming. I'd only recommend this project for folks who don't mind being very patient and have steady hands for tiny fiddly stuff. So please keep this in mind before ordering, and check out the videos on Youtube that demonstrate the process. I would recommend starting with the right joycon, as it is the most difficult. By the time I got to the left joycon, I was actually having fun and it was a breeze from there. Overall it took a couple of hours to do. Have a small dish handy for the screws and have the video tutorials in front of you. And as other reviewers have mentioned, consider purchasing a separate screwdriver as the tools provided in this kit are not great in quality.As for final results, I'm pleased with how the controllers look. The matte finish is very satisfying. However, it does feel prone to scratches, so I might consider buying a clear plastic protective case in the future. The buttons all work as they should, BUT, the L/R and ZL/ZR buttons feel less springy than the original buttons. I am not sure if this is an issue with the housing, the springs, or the replacement buttons themselves. It does not affect my play but this did bother my partner who is a little more sensitive to that. I do plan on tackling shell replacement on my Pro controller next, but because of the issue with the shoulder buttons, I might hold off on the button replacement for now.

These were perfect for what I needed. My daughter cracked the original joycon case of one of my controllers and I figured if I could replace the shell for $20 vs spending $75 for a new set I would give them a try. Their videos were easy to follow along with and I went ahead and switched the buttons out as well with the clear and white vs the black buttons that came with the kit. Took about 45minutes to do both controllers for the first time, and I love how they look now.

El producto es muy bueno, el color es brillante y al tacto se siente súper bien, con un mejor agarre que el joycon original.No viene con instrucciones pero basta con mirar algún tutoríal en internet, en si hacer el cambio es fácil, pero se necesita mucha paciencia.El único punto negativo que yo le pondría es el destornillador de cruz que viene incluido, es malillo si no tienes cuidado puedes barrer los tornillos.

Como iba a cambiar los joysticks en ambos joycons decidí cambiar la carcaza de una vez por el color violeta claro y no tuve problemas.Utilicé toda la carcaza, incluyendo la pieza interna, y los botones así que no sabría decir qué tan bien encajan con los de Nintendo (aunque el hardware queda perfectamente). Son suaves al tacto, antireflejantes, se sienten bien los botones incluidos, y aunque sean de plástico blanco con un recubrimiento no te darías cuenta. Igualmente vienen con tornillos y resortes adicionales y los tornillos vinieron de maravilla: los 4 tornillos externos del joycon son Y00, el resto son PH00, el kit viene con 8 Y00 y 8 PH00 negros del mismo tamaño así que la próxima vez que tenga que abrir mis joycons solamente necesito el philips.Mencionaré que no utilicé las herramientas del kit, sino de iFixit, pero no creo que sería problema si se tiene cuidado de no barrer los tornillos externos en Y que son muy suaves. Al terminar eso, si se reemplazan con los incluidos PH ese riesgo se reduce significativamente.10/10, si consigo joycons nuevos compraré otro juego de carcazas

tout dabord ils nous demandent d’aller sur leur site pour les instructions pour des raisons écologiques, rien de mal à ça or déjà faudrait t’il trouver la bonne vidéo. Puisque la seule que j’ai pu trouver était celle des boutons. En réalité c’est pas très gênant j’ai pu changer la coque de mon premier joc con avec les touches tout ça, sauf que pour la seconde manette (+) c’est un peu plus complexe vu qu’il y a la ir caméra. le tutoriel est en accéléré, pas clair, avec une musique éclatée, rien n’est concrètement expliqué, maintenant ma switch ne capte ni la touche L ni le stick du joy con droit.

Di ottima qualità, con un video e molta pazienza non è niente di impossibile, buono il grip e carino il kit di precisione incluso.
