The curling iron is a little flimsy, I can tell that will be the first to break, but my 2 year old niece LOVED the kit...she was obsessed with the mirror (which has a really good reflection in it) and even though shes normally terrified of blow dryers she loved the toy one. The noise is super quite, it's basically just a tiny little fan inside the blow dryer. Genius! The hair curlers are a nice thick plastic, so I think they will last for years. The only thing I think this kit is missing is a nail polish. We ended up going to the dollar store, getting a clear nail polish, emptying out the contents and put a little bit of pink fabric in the bottle and added that to the kit. Probably not the safest thing for a two year old, but my niece is obsessed with painting everyone's fingernails so it had to have a nail polish.

I would have rated this a 4 star if it were a little more durable. The bag is nice quality, the brush isn't bad - not super functional, but not cheap, the curling iron could snap at any time, the curlers are a little pointless, but ok. The mirror seems solid enough, the hair dryer is the selling feature for me, but it does seem a little delicate. We haven't had any issues with the hair dryer not working yet, but it wouldn't surprise me.Overall, I like the product, it could just be improved. My daughter is 2.5 yrs old and she like the hair dryer, mirror in brush.

Another Amazon purchased item gifted to our 2 year old Granddaughter for her Birthday in addition to the Luna Star All Natural Sparkle Fairy Play Makeup...she's just a girlie girl. I thought this would be the perfect compliment to the makeup and it was a hit. In particular the hair dryer that works (part of the time, anyway) was favored, all present got their hair dried. The hair drier,curling iron,mirror,brush & bag were all played with...while the curlers she just didn't get the hang of (there were lots of owchies). The only downside is that the hairdryer doesn't work all the time & it's her favorite.

Got this for my daughter on her 2nd birthday. 6 months later she still loves it. The favorite part of this set is the hairdryer which makes realistic sounds. She loves to brush and blow dry her hair and anyone who will let her! She can't do the curlers herself but still likes when I put them on her or on part of my hair. Cute little case too. I have made her pretend makeup with nail polish (if do that, use cheap polish from the dollar store. When I made it with more expensive stuff I had laying around the smell didn't go away but the dollar store stuff must not have as many chemicals) and she loves to store it all in her little beauty case. Adorable purchase for your little girly girl!

I ordered this for my 3yo for Christmas, aware it would be a fairly cheap plastic set, but thinking she would still love it. Even with my low expectations, I am completely disappointed with the "quality". The arm portion of the curling iron nearly broke just taking it out of the package - almost no force at all. The whole set is VERY lightweight and flimsy. Another example: I unscrewed the battery cover off the hairdryer to put the batteries in, screwed the cover back on, and it wouldn't stay in! My husband looked at it and apparently taking it off once and putting it back on completely stripped the plastic. (!!!) Pretty sure the batteries are worth more than this whole set.

I ordered this Beauty Bag as an accessory for my granddaughter's new vanity stand. She is two years-old. The only thing she is really interested in is the hair dryer which is battery operated. After showing her the on/off switch she attempted to turn it on. The only way the dryer stays on is by holding down on the little switch. If not, the dryer shuts off. This is frustrating for her. On top of this, the size of the little utility bag, about five inches across, and the three play hair rollers, straightening wand, hand mirror, and brush that fit inside it is worth maybe $4.99 and not $39.99. An outrageous rip-off!!

I purchased this for my daughter in 2010 when she was 2. She came out of the womb a girly girl so I knew she would love this set but I had NO idea she would play with it for 4 years and that it would be durable enough to last 4 years! This set is super cute and provided countless hours of imaginative play over the years! My niece who is 1 also loves playing with this set. Often times she carries the blow dryer with her and makes a "shhhh" noise while pretending to blow dry her hair :) The pieces are made well and have withstood the test of two toddlers without breaking or falling apart. Any little girl would love this beauty bag set :)

I purchased this beauty kit for my 3 year daughter for Xmas. I looked at a similar product by Barbie but opted for this one instead. I was only looking for a play hair dryer so all the other items are a bonus. The carrying case it comes in is very well made and super cute. It reminds me of a Vera Bradley bag with the colors and print. The hair dryer is smaller than the Barbie one I was looking at but perfect for little hands. It requires 2 AA batteries but it actually blows a little and makes 'hair dryer' noise. She loves to do her hair and mine using the included brush and dryer. iplay makes great toys.
