The flavor and grind is fabulous! I am so very glad I ordered this large container. I had no idea how much I would use it. As soon as I got it, I sprinkled garlic powder, Hungarian paprika, salt and pepper, a bit of ground coffee, and this beautiful chili over rib steaks. I sprayed them with a bit of Pam to hold the spices and tossed them on the grill. Wow....I have to make this for guests as it was THE most superior flavored steaks I have had.The container's name becomes the mystery....as Ancho chilis are the most wonderful flavor. This chili gives a full balanced tiny amount of heat with a flavor that that makes everyone say, "What is that? I taste chili but my mouth isn't burning!" or "Wow you are the best cook!"I now use it in ample amounts or in smaller sprinkles for mystery. This company provides a fresh spice. I sprinkled this Ancho chili, salt and pepper, into eggs before I scrambled them and then garnished the plate with fresh fruit from a platter in the fridge from the night before.....and popped a silly English muffin into the toaster. When I served them to my husband, he took one bite of the eggs and he began to rave at the flavor of the eggs and all the huge effort I had gone to because these eggs remind him of vacations. I sipped my coffee and just nodded with a sneaky little smile.

This is exactly what I was looking for - ground chilis (i.e. "chili powder" but not a mix of salt and spices) that provide good flavor without being too spicy. I like spice but the rest of my family does not, so I wanted something that was about flavor. These ground chilis have an almost raisin-ish smell, and taste really good. A little bit of sweetness, maybe slightly smokey, and just a small amount of heat. I made salsa the other day and put in roughly 2 tablespoons of this powder and it added a really nice depth of flavor without overpowering anything - it was a pretty big batch for a party, maybe two quarts. I don't know, I don't measure anything. But I was very happy with the results.Great stuff. I will make this a regular addition to my pantry.

Very nice dark smoky flavor. It isn't very "hot", but the taste is wonderful. I have used it in chili con carne, to make beef marinades, on shrimp and in pork tamales. I will definitely purchase again when our supply dwindles.

Dark, strong Ancho Chile flavor and perfect for making chili. Second time I purchased and will continue to do so. Not sure why the reviews for this product includes different spices and herbs. Very confusing.

If you like to use ground Pasilla/Ancho chili in Mexican cooking ("Michoacan-style"), you'll love this product. Packed with flavor, it gives enchilada sauce loads of flavor without an overburden of heat. You can add heat to taste using hotter varieties in the mix--and that adds to the flavor as well.

Had been looking for a product that I used while living in Mexico City to make mole gravy. This is it. The spice is fresh and tastes like it should.. the heat grade on the container states 2 out of 4 (2-4). If you want an hotter spice then just add a bit more to taste.

smell reminds me of ramen noodles. Flavor is similar as well. Only the slightest of heat. Adds a interesting accent to a dish
