Fundamentals of Watchmaking - Make Barnett
It is very well explained and has clear drawings. Is very good for the novice, and Elgin are very common antique pocket watches.

Useful if.....
This is a useful book if you have at least some experience with watches. It's really more of a workbook for a school or class. It's a good guide for training on an Elgin 16 size or similar movement. Great for the sequence of operations you would follow. Good basic instructions but would be better in classroom setting with an instructor. The movement used isn't all that hard to come by and would make a great beginners practice watch.

This book is useless. It is meant to be used as a lesson plan along with lectures and guided lab work. There are simply a list of directions devoid of any kind of instruction or explaination whatsoever. It is 36 pages of photocopied text and scratchy black and white pictures. Don't waste your time.

My husband needed instructions on repairing some of his pocket watches. Perfect book and he was able to follow it through.

Hardly worth the effort
This is a part piece, printed on poor quality paper (or is it a copy?)Worse than useless. Buy a standard textbook and learn all you need to know.

Rubbish!
This is only one part of the repair course, with none of the supporting material. I found it to be of no use at all.
