Truly Making a Difference
I purchased this book when our pediatrician drug their feet on a speech consult for our child. When it finally happened we had 3 months of waiting before they could be seen. In the meantime I exhausted every means to get them the help they needed in the meantime. Upfront my one complaint is some of the extras included with the book such as the games and flashcards. They are simply printed on sheets of paper and I would have appreciated they be on cardstock and or perforated for easy removal. That said everything else is absolutely amazing and I would have paid so much more than the listed price. It makes the actual speech assessment very easy to perform and administer from a parent's standpoint. It's also easily accomplishedand digestible for the child as well. The groupings of sounds are common sense as are the exercises. One of the most valuable things I found was the insights and advice that it gave along the way to maximize your chances of making a difference. I think we I've had this book for around a month and while things are still far from perfect there has been movement and noticeable Improvement in many areas. This is not a suitable replacement for qualified professional help but this will definitely help children with maybe minor issues or something to assist in the meantime while waiting for a therapist appointment. A lot of books that I've looked at were geared more towards a professional standpoint and so at times I was lost in the actual language. But this broke it down into layman's terms and I found everything to be very user-friendly. One piece of advice it gives and it is very true and I will reassert here is monitor the amount of time you spend daily on these exercises. I initially overlooked this and did not do ourselves any favors by overdoing it. I believe it's states to keep it between 15 and 30 minutes daily and by doing this I found optimal results. This is one of the best resources I found as a parent.

Looking for a good articulation therapy resource?
This is one of my "go to" books that I use for articulation therapy. It can also be used as homework sheets for extra practice of target sounds. The book includes: An articulation test, Ideas and tips for games/activities, specific sound instructions, and a lesson plan template. The sounds in the book are (by chapter): Pand B, T and D, N, F and V, K and G, NG, L, R, SH, Ch and J, Th, S and Z, Final consonants, Blends, and games and picture cards. Each chapter includes: specific sound instruction, tips for better placement, a word list for the sound in all word positions, and activities to practice target sound.Example: under the chapter /L/ the activities are as follows: word list with /l/ words in all word positions, practice the sound in syllables , such as ah-lah, ay- lay, auditory discrimination activities- such as clap your hands when you hear a word that begins with l.Additional pages included:/L/ initial: practice words, questions: "name some foods that begin with L", rhymes: rhyme these words. start your word with the letter L-Better- [Letter]/L/ Final: practice words, questions/L/ blends: Word List with fill in the blank sentences/L/ sentencesThe book is black and white and "no frills" but is still well made and comes in pretty handy. I would recommend this as a good resource.

Very resourceful and well written book
After going thru this book(without the three year old I will be using it with), I am so glad I purchased it and can see how it will be beneficial. She gives great ideas on how to work with your child, and after an articulation test you give your child you can create your own lesson plans. She encourages fifteen minutes per session followed by activities or games to do with your child. The last 30 pages or so have black and white picture cards for parents to cut out and use for their child to practice on. I'm a little overwhelmed by the book, because there is so much information and working on my son's speech seems like a monumental task, but her regular way of writing-like she's talking to someone who is not a speech pathologist makes it easy to understand. I would recommend this to anyone with concerns on their child's speech, and I definitely believe that with this book I can get just as much, if not more, accomplished with my son than taking him to therapy.

Great resource
Excellent resource for parents with easy to understand lessons. I’m a retired teacher and bought this to help my grandson with his speech. His parents find is very helpful. This will not replace speech therapy for children with severe delays, but it has great assessments to help you decide if your child may need a formal speech intervention.

Yes, I would buy it again.
This is an amazing, well written book. We are already seeing improvements. I love the clear explanations on how sounds are made, where to place the tongue, etc. I didn't know so many sounds were linked to each other/similar in how they are created. The book groups those similar sounds together. When you learn how the sounds are made then things really start to make sense on how to teach the sounds. It is also great in that I could learn which sounds are age appropriate for him to know, so I don't worry about those sounds until he reaches the age that it becomes a concern. Obviously, this is a process, and it is going to take some time, but we are already seeing leaps in improvement. HURRAY! Thank you so much for this book!

With patience, this is amazing!
This has been so helpful for our struggling child. Right from the start, it has guided us in pinpointing the areas we need to focus on. We practice in front of the mirror and go through all of the steps/lessons. While it is not an overnight process, we are seeing a vast improvement in our child's ability to communicate.

Worked for me even though I have no previous training!
This book has equipped me to help a friend who was unable to afford professional help. It is a treasure chest of information and suggestions.

The lessons are easy to teach
I bought this book book two years ago for one child and started using it for a second child. The lessons are easy to teach. There is a variety so your child will not get bored. I recommend this book as a stand alone program if your child does not have severe speech issues. I recommend it in ADDITION to any formal speech program that your child attends.
