Like something from a dream.
Quick: I gave it 5 stars because it seems sturdy, well made, beautiful, and it plays. Well worth what was paid. I bought it for my little sister who is obsessed with the Phantom of the Opera musical (and the movies). At the time of writing this it is not yet her birthday so I can't say her reaction. But I love it. I might buy one for myself. At first I didn't believe it, I have been a music box/russian egg collector for years, and my sister enjoys them as well. When we were little we fell in love with the animated movie "Anastasia" (we were heartbroken to learn later that it was not true :( ), and that is where my affection for the culture overseas and my affection for musical trinkets (other than my beloved harmonica) started. At first glance this hinged trinket box, with music, bore stunning resemblance to the trinket box (which seems to be a swedish egg rather than a russian one) in the movie we watched as kids. It's beautiful. The only thing that may surprise a buyer is that the song, Music of the night, is short and played quickly. I would have invested in a longer tune, meaning a larger music player, but I'm no engineer of these things.Yes, yes it does have room for your jewelry. The artwork is stunning, it's very beautiful, and I can't imagine anything I'd like to change about it (other than the speed of the tune, but it is recognizable and pleasant to listen to regardless).Yes, I would recommend it to a friend.

Beautiful gift for any Phantom fan.
When I saw this I had to get it! The image doesn't do the craftsmanship enough justice. The melody is a bit faster than in the movie, but overall the sound is as beautiful as the box itself. Oh, the figurines are well detailed. The package was said to take a while due to the pandemic but it still got here a day before the initial estimated arrival and even then arrived earlier than the revised estimated time.

Perfect for a Phantom collector!
This music box is beautiful and sounds lovely. It is a gift for a Phantom lover and I think she will be very pleased. Originally I ordered this and received an unsatisfactory item for this company. They allowed me to easily return the item and receive a replacement. I'm extremely pleased with the music box and will order from this company again.

Mosty Great
I have been, since I was a young child, Phantom obsessed. I have read the original novel numerous times, seen nearly every film adaptation, and seen live performances of both of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals (Phantom of the Opera and its sequel, Love Never Dies). It is a very important part of my life and I wanted to have something special from it to display in my curio cabinet. When I first saw this on Amazon a few years ago, I was immediately in love and I knew, without a doubt in my mind, that I needed this music box. However, the music box was, for a time, next to impossible to find. I was very fortunate to get this for my birthday a couple years ago and I love it. It was not my first experience with San Francisco Music Box, so I knew I should be expecting good quality, and, for the most part, that is exactly what I got. The music box is well crafted, just like any other SFMB product, and is fairly heavy. It should also be noted that unlike most people who received this, mine arrived in perfect condition; no chips or cracks or damage of any kind. I'm guessing it might be due to a bad batch that some other people ended up with broken ones. But, like I said, the quality of the product was great. The paintwork was clean and crisp, the glass window on the interior of the lid had no scratches, and Christine and Erik/Phantom where not bent out of shape (which is sometimes a thing you encounter with music boxes like this). My biggest qualm, however, lies with the song itself. The song is, of course, Music of the Night from the musical by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, and while the tune it plays is very pretty, it plays very few notes from the actual song; just a minor snippet. I have some other musical pieces from SFMB that play significantly more notes than this and they are almost the same product. On top of that, the music is, generally, really sped up. However, recently, I have noticed it sometimes plays EXTREMELY slow. It is due to these little issues with the musical aspect, that I deduct a star. I have had this now for a couple of years, and it has held up wonderfully. It sits in my curio cabinet and has been well cared for in the time that I've had it, so it should last for the rest of my lifetime. All in all, this is a wonderful product, so long as you end up with one that isn't broken. I would suggest this more for a dedicated phantom phan, however, as a lot of people would not be willing to spend approx. $80 on a tiny music box. I included a short video of the music box playing. It does show the music box playing a bit slow for a moment, so that is something to make note of. Maybe it's due to age? I don't know. Please excuse the lighting; my room is quite like a dungeon in terms of lighting. I merely wanted to show an example of the product whilst playing the song.

Broken and poorly maintained products
I bought one as a gift. The music box was defective. The song and the couple would get stuck, while making clicking noises. I returned it, and asked for a replacement. The second one I got had the cristal (that's inside the music box) unglued and loose. This one had some scratches too.Suffice to say, I will not be getting more products from this company. Clearly, they have had these music boxes for forever, stucked in shelves with no maintenance whatsoever. I do not recommend their products.

Not as high quality as I expected for the price
Overall the music box it relatively nice but with the price and size I expected better quality the glass for the lid doesn’t even seem to be installed and just rattles around the lid. The music plays clearly and otherwise is a cute music box but at the price I expected better quality better quality control

Beautifully crafted
This music box was bought for me on accident (I actually had the Anastasia one on my wish list and I hope it comes back in stock eventually) but I couldn't have been happier with it! The sheer detail in the music box is phenomenal. It's got a really decent weight to it as well. The song plays a little fast but nothing i can't deal with.
