It works - could be better
Overall this does what it says it will - it converts from a VGA to USB and the driver was painless to install. That being said, the resolution is pretty poor and there are weird lines that seem to go through the screen in some sections. I know it's an issue with the dongle and not my monitor because if I use an HDMI cable directly, everything looks fantastic. So keep in mind this will work, but you'll lose screen quality

Adapter does not work at all with most up-to-date version of Ubuntu (Linux)
Manufacturer's website advertised Linux driver support, but it turns out this is only for specific older versions. I cannot afford to downgrade my whole computer's OS for the sake of one adapter, and have no choice except to return the item for a refund. When tested with a known working external monitor, the OS does not detect the presence of the monitor being plugged in at all, and after compiling and running the tests from the official GitHub repository for the drivers, the tests also declare that the monitor is not plugged in (even after a restart).

This only gives you 800 x 600 from a USB 2 port
This is probably a great product for the right application. I needed this to add an extra monitor to my desktop. I didn't see anything to indicate that it would only give 800 x 600 resolution when connected to a USB 2 port. I only have USB 2 on the old PC. So, after verifying with the seller that it was not the correct device for my application, I sent it back. It will probably wn a really handy thing for use with USB 3 ports.

Does no work dual monitor
The adapter will not allow my monitor to go to the proper resolution, its terrible. I tried for hours to adjust it with no success, the it guy st my work said it's the adapter. not the terminal, I had no idea it would do this.

Doesn't work for USB 3.0
Didn't work for my USB 3.0 port. I imagine it will probably work for a USB 2.0 port.

USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter Not Actually DisplayLink as Pictured
I'm not sure why there are reviews for so many different products on this listing, but my experience with the USB 3 to HDMI adapter was poor. The photo clearly showed the "DisplayLink" logo; I wondered why this was so cheap but decided to give it a shot. It is not compatible with DisplayLink drivers. It's actually a Fresco Logic chipset with wonky drivers that need to be loaded from a CD-R (not a factory CD-ROM). I plugged it into a USB 3.0 on my motherboard and got some flickering but not much else. I moved it to a USB 3.0 card that connects directly to the power supply and it worked better. There were a few flickers but it was somewhat usable.I'm very unsatisfied because I wanted a device that uses DisplayLink drivers as those seem to be updated regularly (I've been using DisplayLink products for years). Between the potential for flickering and questionable future driver support I decided to spend more to get a true DisplayLink device and send this back. I suppose it might be ok for occasional use with a headless server or similar but I would highly caution against this product for a work computer.
