Gleams from the Rawdat al-Shuhada: (Garden of the Martyrs) of Husayn Vaiz Kashifi

One would assume that this is a [partial] translation of the Rawdat of Waiz Kashifi, but its not at all. The author, Timothy Winter, wrote a few tunes inspired by the original Rawdat. I wish this was made clear to the buyer, instead I wasted $10 (after shipping). Review in person before purchase to see if this is even something you might slightly be interested in. Why title it "Gleams from the Rawdat al Shuhada" if there is no content from the Rawdat?

Timothy Winter is an amazing scholar and reciter. I love this CD!

Really beautiful and subtle poetry and prose and a rendition of a classic culture of commemoration of Ashura. Really heart warming and moving. Also a very high level of scholarship. A real gem to see in modern times and a pioneering work in the english language of its kind. Accompanying CD is also very high quality. All the poetry is sung/read most beautifully and the Quran recitation touches the soul instantly. The poetry sung in the CD is very moving. Sadly it seems the CD is no longer available. Hope it becomes available again as I was hoping to buy a second copy.
