For the first time, the complete works of Philadelphia's Breakwater are available on one CD for the first time. Originally released by Arista in 1978 and 1980 respectively, 'Breakwater' and 'Splashdown' are from the heyday of Earth Wind & Fire and The Commodores and deserving of far more success. This critically acclaimed music has the hallmarks of the period's quality soul and funk with an originality in the songwriting, musicianship and overall sound. There is also the legacy of such signature tracks 'No Limit', 'Say You Love Me Girl', 'Work It Out', 'Feel Your Way' and more, all keeping the group's music and dreams alive. Formed in 1971, the group and still together and have UK shows in January 2017 as well as a brand new album that year too. At least five of the songs on this collection have been sampled, most notably 'Release The Beast' by Daft Punk on 'Robot Rock' in 2005. 'No Limit', the extended version, is also included here having never been commercially available until this year.

If you don't know Breakwater, you should. This is a must-have for Philly funk fans.
