OK substitute for halogen bulb in under-cabinet light
I have old halogen under-cabinet lighting and have been replacing the bulbs with LEDs one at a time. I’ve tried two LED varieties, both made by GRV. These are slightly longer than the original halogen bulbs but still fit easily (measure for your application). They are listed as 35W halogen replacements. I replaced a 20W halogen bulb and the replacement doesn’t seem quite as bright as the original or as other the other LED I’ve used (a disk-shaped one also made by GRV). Unfortunately, the listing for this G4 bulb doesn’t list the light output in lumens, so it’s hard to compare with others. I’ve seen some reviews saying that if you replace halogens with LEDs in a fixture designed for halogens, they’ll flicker. When I replaced one LED and left one halogen, there was no flicker. Now that I’ve replaced both halogens in my fixture, there is a slight fast flicker (but only in this LED bulb, not the other one in the same fixture). The LEDs don’t get hot, unlike the halogens, which is a plus when there’s food stored in the cabinet above. However, the transformer in the fixture still gets warm, so it’s not a total solution. If you can, it’s best to replace the whole fixture with an LED one.

Works for my desk lamp. I'm concerned about the durability.
I have some desk lamps that take 12V halogen bulbs, and looked at using these as a replacement for the halogen ones. So far it works very well for this application. The light is bright enough for the lamp and my needs, giving off a warmer white. The leads were long enough for my use, but not too long, so I did not need to trim them. As with any application, be sure to check dimensions to make sure these will work for you. This is the first set of COB-style LED bulbs I've owned, and the fist bulbs I've ever seen encased in silicone. I suppose the silicone offers some advantages: provides support to the LED so it doesn't snap off, provides some measure of moisture-proofing, and also cushions the whole bulb. However, because silicone is flexible it's possible to stress the solder joints connecting the LED element to the circuit board--be careful. You can also see from one of the pictures that the LED element is not perfectly in the silicone.

An excellent, albeit long, LED blub.
I got these for use in some outdoor lighting fixtures and, in general, they work very well. They're very bright, with a pleasing color. My system is 12V DC, but the specs also say that they will work on 12V AC and DC voltages of up to 24 volts. The silicone encapsulation makes them water resistant and they should have a long operating life…the limiting factor is probably the silver cylindrical component that’s visible in the pictures. That’s an electrolytic capacitor and typically has a ten-year life…give or take five years. (Their actual life is highly dependent on manufacturing quality and operating environment. All bets are off if you live in Alaska or Phoenix.) On the other hand, these are inexpensive and easy to swap out should they prematurely die. The only downside of this bulb is its length. I have a couple of short fixtures where the bulb size would not allow them to be closed. Otherwise, I really like them…

Nice Bright Bulbs
I used these bulbs to replace bi-pin halogen bulbs I have in several outdoor landscape floodlights. As you can see in the photos, they're quite bright. I left the brightness unadulterated in one to show the brightness level, but the color temperature of the light is really warm white. I really like the fact that the entire bulb is encased in silicon. This makes the bulbs very easy to handle and resistant to moisture. I'm testing that by putting them in outdoor fixtures to see how they hold up. They fit in the bi-pin outlet with no problem. The thing to take special note of is that these bulbs are quite long, 1.5 inches not counting the pins, so you need to make sure you have enough headroom in your fixtures. Being LEDs, they run cool and should last quite a long time.

Sorry, But These GRV G4 COB 2508 4W DC12~24V Cabinet LED Are a Fail For Me
Let me start with saying I have evaluated other GRV lights with good results. For me, not the case with these. They didn't work due to solder connection failure. The unit is molded in a clear flexible compound. The LED connects to a board and if there is any flex the solder connection fails at the board. To install, because these are longer than the original bulbs, they need to flex to be installed. Sorry, but there needs to be a better means to maintain the connection points. For this reason I can only give it a single star.

Bright.
These are a bit too large for my range hood, as I suspected they would be, but they do work in my vehicle. They provide about twice the luminosity - and take about twice as much power - as the ones that do fit in my range hood. These are interesting looking and interestingly constructed. It seems like one big actual LED, you can see the circuitry in real detail, and they seem to be coated in clear rubber. Strange, but sort of cool.

Good brite bulb worth the money and quick post

Zat eerst halogeen in.
