Elegant piano light
I ordered the 10" polished brass, and it goes beautifully with my Yamaha C3--it complements the brass fittings/lettering, and the size does not overwhelm the piano. (I think the 14" model would make too much of a statement.) The light fits nicely over the music desk and sits solidly on top, but it is well-padded with felt and will not damage the piano's finish. Some reviewers complained that theirs didn't come with a bulb, but mine did. Even though it is an LED (not my bulb of choice), it emits a warm light. I have no problem with glare from the polished brass (another reviewer's complaint), but it provides plenty of light to illuminate the music. I'm a very happy customer!

Handsome on a grand piano
My mother-in-law, who is a semi-professional pianist, received an Amazon gift card and wanted me to help her purchase this light online for her. She loves it! It is bright without much glare; and she is able to bring it to any formal/classy setting without having this light look like an afterthought or distract from her piano-playing. The muted gold is not too shiny--it has some brushed effect on it, making it subtle from the audiences' perspectives. I would buy this as a great gift to all pianists.

Perfect in Every Way
This is a perfect piano lamp. It fits over the music backing on my piano and has screws to tighten it. It doesn't come with a bulb, so be sure to order one too (see comments for a link to a bulb that fits sold by Amazon.) This lamp is simple, but classic. It doesn't draw attention to itself, but provides good lighting for playing. Free shipping for Amazon Prime members!

Excellent
Works very well. After buying a black one for church, I bought a brass one for home. Ask for a T-10 bulb at the hardware store. The T10 may be on the finest print on the package front; take your reading glasses. It is in the category of "refrigerator bulb". This is the broader of the two bases such bulbs seem to come in. LED works well. If I remember right, Lowe's had a longer bulb than Home Depot, thus a little more suitable.

more than 100$ -shoddy construction, shorted and died four years in.
looks good but the shade is loose and wobbly and won't sit straight-our lamp just shorted and died - I would expect a lamp of this price to last more than four years.

Front heavy, inconveni.ent switch location, gooseneck not very flexible
OK, I guess I get to give the "minority report". This was a big splurge for me. Bought it for my piano to replace a lamp that sits on top of the piano... I wanted to keep the lid open and still have light on my music, so I needed this type of lamp. The quality is fine. I wanted brass but heeded another reviewer's warning about reflection/glare, so I ordered brown. It's pretty expensive for what you get, but if it functioned nicely, I'd be completely happy.Clipped it to my music deck. Several problems. First, it bangs into the piano lid when the lid is open. Maybe I could blame that on the piano design, but anyway, I started to adjust the gooseneck forward so it didn't bang into the lid, and found that the whole thing is so heavy that it pulls the music deck (or should I say, the hinged vertical board on which you place your sheet music) forward. I had to wrangle the thing to keep the weight balance back so that the board doesn't fall forward. It's still barely weighted enough to keep the board in place. I'm not sure how to deal with this; I guess I need to find a way to immobilize the board. Also, the gooseneck is way too long for use on a piano. It only needs to lean forward a little and point the light downward. The gooseneck is something like 14" long when 6" would be plenty. So I can't pull it forward or the music deck board would fall forward and I wouldn't have a place to put my sheet music. I have to pull it straight up then curve is sharply downward to keep it balanced. One reason for this kind of design - which isn't mentioned on this listing - it's designed as a way to light a picture frame. It's not even designed as a piano light. But they did a good job of marketing it as such on the Amazon listing. The on/off switch is about 5" down on the power cord, you know, like on cheap lamps. Very inconvenient. I have to reach around behind the hinged board and hunt around for it to turn the light on and off.Mentioned in other reviews, there are no light bulbs included! Mine takes two light bulbs. These aren't bulbs you're likely to have sitting around the house. The base appears to be the standard size but you need a cylindrical shaped bulb to fit in the light. I really can't figure the rationale for not including bulbs in an expensive light fixture. On the plus side, it's "handcrafted by Vermont artisans, designed and built to stand the test of time." Great. It will never break, I guess, so I'll never have to replace it with one that works better for my needs (and probably many other pianists as well).

Great lamp, get LED bulb
Great lamp. Incandescent bulb I bought burned out in weeks though. Do yourself a favor and go to local hardware store where you can get a LED bulb for about $6-7. Those bulbs are nice and bright and will last pretty much forever.

Quality
This lamp is exactly what my husband’s baby grand deserves. My husband was surprised and delighted. He is always doing such thoughtful deeds for others. It felt wonderful knocking it out of the park and giving him this beautiful piece.
