Great hockey book!
Greg Franke's book is the best account of the 1972 series I have ever read! Franke writing about the historical roots of the Soviet-Canada rivalry(1950s-1972) makes reading what was coming in September, 1972 even better. I highly recommend this book.

An interesting read looking inside of Canada v Russia hockey.
I have loved hockey since I first stepped onto the ice in1957. I love I now live In an area of the USA where I can watch Hockey Night in Canada. Greg Franke has authored a fantastic read about the on ice "Epic Confrontation" of Canada and Russia. His personal insight adds so much to the story. For certain a fun and interesting read!

Soviet style hockey changed the way North America played the game. For the better.
Excellent review of the events surrounding Soviet style of hockey. More pix would have made it a better book.

Great Book
I was 17 when this tournament took place living in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Watched each game on Hockey Night in Canada on the Canadian Broadcasting Network, (CBC) . These 8 games changed the method of playing hockey forever. It took the NHL a while to catch up, however they finally did after playing against the Russian Five for my hometown Detroit Red Wings. Now the NHL is a east / west game with the influx of European and North Americans playing a faster, a more fan friendly game to view. Kudos to the Russians for exposing what was lacking in Canada's National Game.

Great book!
Very detailed look at both sides. Color would have been nice, but still a lot of great pictures, too
