Best book I have found on digital filmmaking and written by someone with comprehensive knowledge and experience
This is the third book on digital filmmaking I have purchased and the only one I can recommend to others. It is very well done with illustrations for topics where this is needed to understand the information and the concepts being presented. It shows that the author and the publisher took the time to get it right and did not rush something to print (like the Dummies book on DSLR filmmaking). The author clearly understands the technology and the very different camera and gear options and covers the pros and cons of them in adequate detail so that the reader has an excellent basis for making their own purchase decisions and a much better chance of getting it right the first time (and saving themselves a lot of time and money). This book along with Ric Viers "The Sound Bible" on sound recording are great resources for a novice filmmaker or videographer. The information is not dumbed down nor is it written like regurgitated ad copy from the equipment manufacturers, but it is not at all too technical for someone who is not experienced as a photographer or proficient with electronic equipment and computers.I have been involved with photography since 1965 and did video camera work starting in 1972 and have been a professional in the computer industry since 1980 and I have worked as a professional photographer shooting weddings and doing product photography and video clips for product promotion and usage demos and so I am not a novice in many respects but I knew that video with a digital camera was new territory and I wanted books to provide a jump start and a good foundation. This book by Mark Brindle and the book by Ric Viers are ones I highly recommend to others who want to come up to speed quickly.

This is a handbook to Video DSLR
Many books abound on "how-to's" for video using the DSLR, but few have compiled timely tips as Mark's book, "Digital Filmmaking Handbook." Recommending a book is much to taste and not an answer to all questions about a topic, but Mr. Brindle did a good job of explaining basics, some nice tips of making recording better, and leads the reader along a progressive path. Add it to your library of books if you are planning to wanting to learn video photography.

Better choices available
When an author doesn’t know the difference between ‘then’ and ‘than’ he loses a lot of credibility. If he can’t be accurate with those simple grammatical choices, why should one trust his accuracy with any other info in his books?
