Inateck 2.5 Hard Drive Enclosure, USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Case, SA01002

I have three inateck enclosures, this one being the newest. I needed a solution for checking 2.5 inch drives and this seemed the perfect answer. It has been compatible with the HDD's and SSD's I have used so far but I have stayed within the 2TB limit. Having said that it has recognised everything from a 10GB up to 2TB HDD and a 480GB SSD, the SDD also having been purchased recently on Amazon.The cooling provided by the case design is more than adequate and I would gladly use this enclosure for video editing or expanding the capacity of my Xbox One X.My only concern would be that regular swapping of drives might loosen or weaken the flap or the connection points for power and Sata but this will only tell with time.An excellent product and great solution for someone like me who has to use multiple HDD/SSD's.This is an update to the above review and I hope it provides some more insight into the product.As I said above I have a few Inateck enclosures but all were for 2.5 inch HDD/SSD's so when I updated my HP Touchscreen Computer with an SSD I found myself with the 3.5 inch, 2TB HDD in need of an enclosure so decided to buy the 3.5 inch big brother of the 2.5 inch versions which I already own.The enclosure comfortably housed my Western Digital full height 3.5 inch drive and once connected to a high speed USB port the drive surprised me with it's speed and data transfer rate.Unlike it's little brother the 3.5 inch version requires an external power supply so it took up another socket on my surge protected power strip.The enclosure is well constructed and just like it's little bro you can swap HDD's without the need for any tools and the sleep feature stops it drawing unnecessary power.All in all a great product and I highly recommend it.

Works perfectly. Just added a drive and attached to the laptop. The transfer speed was as expected - maxed out the drive at more than 130 MegaBytes per second. Great use of USB3!

Works really well under Windows 10 but much reduced read performance under Linux (ZORIN 16 on Intel based laptop and Raspian on Raspberry pi 4B). Not sure why, but suspect that Debian based systems don't recognise the device properly e.g. not recognised as a UASP supported device. I have three of these, tested two and both gave the same results.

Once I figured out how to open the flap, the HDD I had (a 2013 Toshiba HDD from an Apple MacBook Pro) just slotted in and works perfectly in Windows 10.

Once you figure out how it opens which doesn't take much doing it's a nice solid product.

My son gave me a 200Gb SSD, this houses it, converts to USB to use as backup, works superbly well, no downsides

Bought this to try and retrieve important files from a disk drive which wouldn't boot, but this didn't do the job. Could see some files, but not all of them. OK, it may have been the drive I was trying to access, but not impressed anyhow. It was quite difficult to load the hard drive into the enclosure as you couldn't see the connections. Wouldn't recommend it.

Ease of use, using an old hard drive as a portable drive now.
