Really solid guide to openings. Enjoy!
I liked this book a lot better than the first one. The openings are crucial principles that everyone needs to know, and the book presents a handful of them in a really easy to grasp manner. The best part is the logical explanation after each opening of why the pieces are being moved as they are. I found that to be really insightful. Mastering the Fried Liver attack / defense has probably doubled my win rate. I don’t know how ‘daredevil’ the openings really are since they’re all pretty common in the chess community, but who cares? They’re fun, useful, and effective. I’ll say that the book is geared toward beginners, so if you are already pretty good at chess, it won’t help you much.

Easy :)
I've never read about chess and now that I am, I am realising how important it is to understand the principles of chess as opposed to just merely acting. The latter will get you defeated time and time again

IT WORKS!
We play a lot of games during the holidays and I wanted to finally beat my cousin at Chess. (I have read his other book How to Play Chess before) - but I tried the openings and I won two out of three games!!

Really really really good
I loved this book. I knew that I sucked at chess, and this book helped me not suck quite as much. I now can beat my dad regularly. This book also started me on a path of chess knowledge. I have started reading other books on chess openings and I have a tactics book that I'm plodding through, but it all started with this book. This book helped me rediscover my love for chess and I am very thankful I read it!!! It's also very entertaining to read. There's one part where he says "if you lose your queen early, you're screwed." Haha. The book is full of straight no nonsense talk like that and I highly recommend it.

A fun book
Although I’m definitely a casual player, I haven’t found that opportunities to use these openings come up all that often. Nevertheless, it sure is fun when they do! The book is well written and a quick read. In particular I would recommend it to beginners who are starting to get serious about chess.

A kids book
This book is really meant for young kids. Anyone who knows anything about chess should skip this book. I donated it to our library in hope a much younger audience can benefit from it.

Enjoyable to read, strictly for beginners and occasional players ...
Enjoyable to read, strictly for beginners and occasional players.Experienced players would know how to deal with the Fried Liver attack and the other openings in the book. The young person that wants to become a Master in due time, would get the wrong bases out of it.

OK
Too basic, plus your friends never play the moves you need them to for the theory to work. There are better book out there.

Fried Liver will not get you much past 1300 in rating.
I hope this guy Maxen Tarafa is not a chess coach. Like his last book, this was also free so I downloaded it. Yes beginners will fall for such opening traps, but if you teach this to the beginners, their foundation in learning the game is simply not there. If he teaches kids fried liver and quick mates instead of solid principles, like develop and make the best developing moves in the opening, follow solid middle game principles and learn at-least basic end games to start with, that is just bad teaching.I would recommend that all folks who are beginners stick to proven teachers like Dan Heisman, Pandolfini, Reuben Fine or Fred Reinfeld instead of wasting money on bokks like these.
