Praxis II Middle School English Language Arts (5047) Exam Secrets Study Guide: Praxis II Test Review for the Praxis II: Subject Assessments

In collaboration with the ETS materials provided on their website AND this book, I some how passed my test on first attempt. I do recommend it. It is jam packed with various authors, literary eras, the rules of grammar, pedagogical approaches to teach language arts...Everything the Praxis said they could test you on is in this book. BUT, I also used materials that align to the middle school test available on the Educational Testing Service website. I took it over the summer. I began studying a month in advance of the testing date. Do not wait any longer...Even though I passed, there were still areas I just didn't have enough time to study for in which I had to make educated guesses on the test.I studied about 4-5 days a week for about 2 hrs a day. I read through the whole book (not necessarily in order) while taking notes. What I liked about the book though was that it aligned to the ETS study guide. It was definitely a huge help and it is good to have just to always reference to even after passing the test. Best of luck! Remember to make a study plan ... And to stick to it!

This is a wonderful study guide. It is very condensed and packed with information. It is set up in very easy to read chapters and sections so that you don't get overwhelmed by all the information. I really like the study tips and the practice test was really useful with excellent explanations for correct answers. I used this book to study along with the ETS study guide and practice tests (I recommend these also) and I did pass the test, which was very challenging! I allowed about 6 weeks to study although I felt that I was ready to take the exam after about 4 1/2 weeks. I definitely would not recommend studying longer than that b/c at that point you are simply "forcing" information into long-term memory which can be detrimental to studying. I believe that I will reference this book again and again for teaching my students; it's that good. I highly recommend this for the Praxis 5047! Seems to be a good study book. Lots of information but There is a lot of good things in here. For example, there is a ton of info, vocab lists and sample tests. If you are taking this test, you should type in free tests on google and a ton of them come up. This has really helped me a lot.

Your product is very nice. I like the way it is set up. I have taken this test once before and did not do well. So I decided to order this book to help me study for when I take the test again in a few weeks. The only thing is that I have noticed that there is a lot of information in this book that I did not see on the test. There was also information on the test that I do not see in the book. Overall the book is well put together and I hope it helps me pass the test this time.

I wanted to wait to receive my score before writing a review, and I passed with plenty of room to spare on my first stab at the Praxis 5047. I bought this book along with the CliffsNotes Praxis English Subject Assessments, 3rd Edition: (5038, 5039, 5047, 5146-ELA) by Kern. This book was alright, but I never felt like I was getting a ton out of it and the layout made the material seem bland. I actually used the Kern book more and it was half the price. I might have spent all of 5 or 6 hours in this one over a span of 3-4 weeks, and even then I could have easily found the same information online. There is some overlap and I think the Kern book does a better job explaining things and giving examples with graphic organizers, timelines, and so on, and if you are stuck between this one and the Kern book, go for Kern.

After skimming through the guide, I find it to be very well constructed and have even decided to go ahead and order the flashcards as well to reinforce and learn the material in the study guide. The guide is not as big of a book as I had expected, which was a pleasant surprise since I need to get through the material as quickly and effectively as possible in order to take the exam soon.

Very easy to read, I love the review videos. This product has so many pieces that are important not only to the test but also to my learning.
