Best common drill guage.
I have used General drill guage for years. I got a second one to keep at work. Clearly marked. Good stuff!

A tool you need and will use.
Great quality gauge. This is the second one I’ve purchased. ( have other on opposite work bench ). For those like me who don’t have the patience for placing the drill bit back in the original tight fitting, hard to get out, plastic holders, this gauge eliminates grabbing the wrong size bit from the random storage bins. I tethered the gauge to a trailer break away curled cable right where I store the bits. This tool as well as my screw gauges, come in handy more times than not.

Better than the free plastic junk I usually see.
This product is a fairly thick hunk of metal with a bunch of holes. I say fairly thick I mean when I pick it up with my thumb and forefinger and flop it around, it remains rigid. I mean, whaddya want? I could grab my microcaliper and tell you how thick it is, but what you really want to know is if it's solid and sturdy. It doesn't flop around. It will leave a mark if you slap someone with it. My one concern is that the measurements are engraved and painted so if the paint wears, it could be hard to read. However there is no indication that there's actually a problem there. Just my experience with similarly marked items such as measuring cups (sometimes I cook too, so what). This is an essential tool in any workshop, but I wouldn't run out and spend too dollar on it. It's more readable than the plastic alternatives, but I don't think it's any more (or less) reliable.

Stainless steel and embossed numbers
Love that the numbers are subtly embossed / counter-sunk so the ink won’t rub off easily. Lots of hold sizes too so it’s easy to hang up! :)
