Dog loves this toy. A lot.
Let this be said first. I HATE this toy. It's loud. It's annoying. It scares me in the middle of the night if I walk too close to wherever my prankster dog has left it hidden. Did I mention that it's loud? Now that that's out of the way, let me tell you a few things about the ball I got for my dog for Christmas 2014. Keep in mind that I have an 80 pound energetic young counter-surfing chew-happy Rhodesian Ridgeback. And the ball I bought was a small size. As I may have mentioned, he's a chewer. This toy broke in half today. That is, like, a record for him. He's a tube o tennis balls a week kind of guy, and this stupid little ball lasted him (barely) over a year. He just walks around with it in his mouth giving you goofy looks while the ball makes animal noises and they echo around in his skull. Occasionally he tosses it as high as he can and then chases it after it lands on the floor and rolls off (it's an old house, the floors are slightly slanted, don't judge), which is why the ball broke. He tossed it a bit to high and the seam finally gave way. I was initially concerned because of the hard plastic shell, but after a month of constant supervision I realised that he was okay with the ball and stopped watching so closely. It has also been a source of constant amusement to him. He likes to tuck it away just off of the high traffic areas and just out of sight to his humans. Then, as his humans walk past and activate it and jump 50 feet in the air, there he his. Standing there. Wagging his tail and giving you a doggy grin. You can almost hear him laughing.... Seriously, odds are you will hate this stupid little ball. But, it will totally be cancelled out while you watch as your little buddy does goofy crap with it. Heck, mine broke his 10 minutes ago and here I am, ordering another one, knowing that in a week I'll be cursing again. Don't let your dog play with it unattended, at least until you know whether or not they are going to try to break it into a billionty pieces and eat it. I imagine that it could break into sharp shards. For some reason though, my dog didn't try to kill this one. Hopefully you're dog will like it as much as mine does. Hopefully you won't hate it as much as I do. :)

Noisy, but worth it!
OMG, my 6-month old high energy breed pup goes absolutely NUTS for this!! Several weeks in and it's still a consistent attention grabber--and keeper! She never seems to get bored with it, which is a god send when I need a few minutes to get something done without constant puppy distraction! That said, I try not to use it too often just to make sure it keeps its allure. On the downside, it's extremely sensitive to jostling and frequently "goes off" when you move anywhere near the toy bin, or breathe too loudly, or look at it, lol! Seriously though I love it, and so far so good on her not destroying it. But it is hard plastic... seems sturdy and thick, but I'm always skeptical of hard plastic dog toys. My girl LOVES to chew, but she's only ~35 lbs now hasn't mastered the art of destruction yet. If you have a "gifted" chewer with jaws of steel, this may last longer than most hard plastic, but I wouldn't leave them alone with it for more than a few minutes at a time. Also, if they're the type who likes to throw their own toys around, this one my wind up breaking things or bruising shins.

Making noises before opening package
Bought this toy for our grand dog. She loves it. Played with it for hours at our house and then for a few hours at her house until the thing stopped making sounds. I suspect the battery is dead as it was activated when we took it out of our mailbox...someone who packed it for shipment must have thought it would drive the carrier nuts as it made noises at the slightest movement. I noticed the plastic key wasn't in the battery box, but was pulled. I will inspect when dog comes back for a visit and change battery if that is the case. I left off a star because of the short life and will update if the battery is at fault. Update: Batteries were at fault. Replaced three L44 on 12/19/17 and the ball is back to making all sorts of noise. I will keep track of how long these batteries last and will update this review later. Update 1/3/18 Ball lasted about 8 hrs when it sounded no more. Batteries are good, the ball quit making noise. It will occasionally give a couple of animal sounds, but mostly quiet. Hasn't stopped the grandpup. She loves pushing it with her nose until its hidden under some furniture or some other hard to reach place. As I type this update, I can hear her grunting because the ball is out of reach again. Photos of pup (Rhys) digging through the insides of her bed where the ball slipped out through a hole in which was too small for Rhys's body to pass. We thought of leaving her there so we could have some peace and quiet, but had to snap a few photos first. Once released, mayhem continued.

Computer games for dogs! Great exercise!
This is simply the greatest dog toy invention ever for big, powerful chewing, active dogs. NOT FOR INDOOR USE! This toy is the greatest. (One tiny flaw...see below). My 93 pound, super-overdrive, working dog would not be happy without babble balls. He used to be a tennis ball junkie. Now it is babble balls. Originally I found only the small ones and the ferret balls. The SMALL ones were not sturdy enough for a big dog. When shoved between the back teeth they were smashed like a nut cracker would smash them. (He did learn the frenzied command: "Not in the back! Not in the back!!"). Crushing them was unacceptable because they have the little disk lithium batteries inside. Fortunately the big size does not go far back between his teeth and they can't be crushed, Should be good for most dogs...minus a few Mals or GSD's with unusually wide and powerful bites and who are likely nicknamed "snakemouth"or "jaws" by helpers/catchers/decoys. You know if you've got one of those guys. My guy plays with them with me, and he plays independently. I would, btw, always suggest supervised play with these (remember the batteries are a potential danger). He plays with them when the batteries are still good and they are making those 20 animal noises. He plays with them AFTER the batteries die...although he prefers when they talk back. I would not suggest indoor use because if your dog is like mine what he/she will do is pounce with two front paws on the edge of the ball which will go flying like a plastic cannonball. Could damage windows, walls, mirrors, furniture, humans, other animals in the house. So beware. The good side is that outdoors it is as though he can throw it for himself, chase it, and throw it again. Sometimes he just runs around the yard with it making animal noises as he goes. Sometimes he hides it in the bushes or in the corner of the backyard orchid house and then makes a big deal over getting it out of its hiding place. Non-stop exercise. Can tire you out just watching it! The little flaw...these guys are not the best for the environment...UNLESS you recycle them. It is very difficult to replace the batteries because they by necessity have to fit VERY tightly. It is cheaper just to buy a new ball than to buy the ball new with batteries in it. I end up recycing a lot of a lot of plastic and lithium because he loves a new toy and so gets a new ball every 2 - 6 weeks. Oh yeah, the babble ball collection stays outside where they get rained on and wet by the sprinkler system, but just keep on working. Try one! Both the dog and I highly recommend them.

It does not come with an "off" button (really?)
If my experience is based on user error or a bad batch, I'll gladly accept that explanation. HOWEVER, I am disappointed in and annoyed by this ball. There is NO "OFF" switch or button and it is absolutely motion-activated. So if it it picked up, bumped, tapped, rolled, thrown into the garbage can, or sitting on a table when someone walks through the room so it can pick up the vibration of footsteps, you will hear a series of chaotic animal sounds. Animals that wouldn't even know each other in one setting, but I digress. It's completely hard plastic, I would prefer some kind of rubber or silicone so my dog could play with it without potentially chewing off plastic or me worry about it cracking. That doesn't even matter though because the dog is not interested. And if the dog was interested, I would find the lack of an "off" switch too annoying to keep it out in the house much. I take accountability that I should have looked at reviews or item description more closely before purchasing. I was looking for enrichment toys for our new dog, but this is one that misses the mark for us.

Battery activation strip was pulled off prior to shipping, battery lasted only 4 days.
I received this ball already activated so I was afraid that the battery would run out too soon depending on how long the ball had been activated prior to shipping. The UPS guy was probably wondering what the heck was in the box making those noises. I got home and as soon as I picked up the box it started to make sounds. Well, the battery only lasted 4 days so now I have to go buy some batteries which probably cost the same price as the ball because it requires the AG13/LR44 batteries. My dog loved the toy while it lasted, she's blind and I wanted something that makes noise. The noises it makes it's the sounds of different animals, like the sling monkey which is her favorite because it's the same sound as my daughter's toy the dog has been wanting to play with. The ball is made of very hard plastic, and a little big for my boston terrier, maybe I should have bought the small one. Also, since this is so hard, I wonder if that will ruin her teeth because she already has some missing for being rough with toys. I would buy this again because she really seems to enjoy playing with it, but now that it doesn't have sound, she doesn't even care for it. I will buy some batteries and hopefully it will last the 4-6 months it says on here.

This ball is not only fun for dogs, it's fun for kids. It makes all kinds of animal sounds!

Dog Loves it!
I bought all 3 of the babble balls for my dog who was really bored since my other dog passed away. The talking one and the flashing one made several noises/sounds that neither my dog nor myself are found of, but the animal sounds one was so cute and perfect! He doesn't really care for playing with balls, but he loves his stuffed animals, so I took a few of his old stuffed toys and pulled the stuffing out of them and washed and dried them. Then I put the babble ball in it and a little stuffing for padding and sewed them back together. He now carries the animal sounds one around with him all the time, and even has to take it with him when he goes out to potty. I highly recommend the animal sounds one, but would not buy the others again because some of the sounds they make are annoying and one is very disturbing.

My Dogs Fav Toy
My dog loves this ball. When it babbles, my dog runs around it wags his butt until he falls over, so happy. Different noises at different volumes so just when he walks away, the noise changes and draws him back. Very sturdy, he chews it thou and its hard!!! A bit worried he may lose a tooth..so if your dog is a chewer, watch him/her while playing with it. (Easily goes off, any vibration causes a babble, so I also use it at the cottage on the window ledge when the window is open, and it startles the squirrels away from coming in the window.. Perfect pigeon/squirrel warning device...I call it my reasonably priced security system..lol).

Dog looooooves this toy; I wear earplugs!
This toy's animal sounds are VERY noisy and the ball is made of hard plastic which is VERY noisy when it hits the floor or goes down the stairs... one by one by one... BUT, my dog loves this toy and seeks it out each day... loves to toss it in the air and chase after it... so, imagine the cacophony of the hard plastic ball hitting the floor and the animal sounds squawking loudly in competition. Then layer on my dog barking with excitement. Yeah, I've invested in a good set of earplugs.

No es el juguete ideal para un cachorro
No le gustó a mi perrita, está muy dura y los sonidos la estresan.
