For a cheaper pipe clamp, this works great. I've been modifying 3/4" steel pipes and a regular vise with a pipe channel wouldn't keep it from rotating when tapping. This does mark the pipe a little bit keeps it in-place for tapping, cutting, drilling, or whatever. It has bolt holes, so it is as sturdy as your bench.
