FISHY FLAKES - Bonita Flakes for Cats & Dogs - Large Bags - Large Strips - Quality

Seems to me there some quality control issue with this product. I ordered one bag a while bag to try, among the many other brands of Bonito flakes I have bought for our little creatures, that bag was by a good margin the best quality I had seen to date. It was the most colorful, most flavorful and had the most pleasant and freshest of smell. So I ordered 4 bags, all of which were much less colorful, have little to no smell...are MUCH drier so naturally more dust that pieces of meat, in fact once opened and handle it all turns to dust. Unfortunately I won't be buying this brand again after this experience.

If I could give zero stars, or maybe even a negative star... I was extremely disappointed by the quality of these fish flakes. I'm going back to buying Cat Man Doo, as their product is far superior to Fishy Flakes. In these times, everyone is concerned with price: in searching for a bargain, I saw Fishy Flakes. The company said their bonito flakes were better, less powder, more long strips. Don't believe this! After spending $108, I saw every package filled with pulverized, powdered flakes that my cats won't even touch. I was shocked by the difference between Fishy Flakes and Cat Man Doo. There is no aroma of fish; the flakes were stale. I contacted the company. After asking me to send proof, I sent 10 pictures and 3 videos. The customer is NOT king at this company!Aside from this, as a personal note, I used to live in Japan, where shaved bonito flakes are a part of life. I eat bonito almost every day. In its best form, the flakes are fragrant, soft, pliable...the Fishy Flakes are not at all fragrant. I suspect their product is old. If you want a bag of fish flakes that's half powder, then buy this product. If you want high quality food for your pets, buy something else.

Fishy Flakes is something that my cats just loved. The minute I called them they were there and waiting. Now 5 ounce seems like a little but as I explained in my video the flakes are light in weight and it is like 5 ounces of down feather there is a lot of flakes for that amount of ounces. You most also remember it is a treat not a meal. My cats had no discomfort at all from these flakes.

Please restock this item or I am in BIG trouble! When Soph was four (she's now 15) had a run-in with a Schnauzer and became anorexic. Four thousand dollars later, feeding tube, hospitalized, and much more, she refused to eat anything for nearly two weeks until we fed her fish flakes. Since then she has become an aficionado of fish flakes. Over the years she has "tried" many until FISHY FLAKES came into order, and now she is HOOKED! SOOOO PLEASE, don't let the reserve get low or I will be unable to "explain" to Sophie why FISHY FLAKES are unavailable and (Heaven Forbid) she should snack on another brand!THANKS!

My cats cannot get enough of these flakes. When it’s time for their treat, they run into the room, practically knocking each other over. Our normally skittish female will try to grab the flakes out from under the noses of our other 2 cats if they don’t eat them fast enough. Even our cat that never bothers with any other treats loves these. I had tried another brand, but it was not nearly as fresh-smelling and popular with the cats. Highly recommend.

We received a sample of bonito flakes by another company when at a local pet supply store. Our kitten went nuts over it. So, thrifty as I am, looked on amazon for a cheaper alternative to the same product. I was very happy to find this product and at its price per ounce. My only complaint is that a lot of the flakes are very, very large and curling clusters -not conditioned to small mouths eating it. We have to break it up by hand really good before serving treats to our kitten, thus getting all fishy smelling at the fingertips in the process. Other than that, it's great!

Switched to this from CatManDo, which had become more expensive, and we’ve now been through several bags. Great price relative to other brands, and convenient 5oz size (note, vendor only allows one bag per purchase). Large flakes without too much dust. Some notes:1) We have two old lady cats. One is crazy about bonito flakes, the other crazy for salmon cubes. Each has no interest in the other’s evening snack. So YMMV.2) When we get down to the inevitable dust, we either mix it lightly in wet food or with a little water for a tasty paste. If we try to use it directly, our cat snorts the dust and has a sneezing fit, so we avoid that.

I've been purchasing this item for quite some time; my animals love it. My problem is that the last package smells awful. My animals don't seem to mind. Nevertheless, I think that the dreadful sour smell rather than a strong fishy smell means this shipment is bad. I will not order again. Must find another provider from now on.
