Red Sea Reefer 900 Protein Skimmer

I really love this skimmer. I've probably had over a dozen different types of skimmers on various tanks in the 7 years I've been reefing, but this one really seems to be the best. I previously was a Reef Octopus fan, and their skimmers are really good too, but this one is just so well thought out. Easy to assemble, very sturdy feeling, very easy to dial in. I get great skimmate and great aeration with this guy. I also like they include a valve controlled drainage tube. It makes it so much easier to empty, why didn't anyone else think of this sooner. I've had others that include a drainage tube if you want to hook it up to a collector, but this one has a valve the you can keep closed and then open it to intermittently drain the collection cup instead of having to have something set up to continuously drain into. You basically never need to take off the cup because it has a built in neck cleaner. It's manual and a bit stiff to turn, but it's way better option then the $200+ I had to pay for an auto neck cleaner on my Reef Octopus skimmer.Plus they're coming out with an upgrade kit that will have a DC controllable pump and foam overflow sensor. Can't wait!

This product was missing the pump and had obviously been opened because there was highlighting in the product manual.

Fits perfect in my small 30 gallon sump for my 170 gallon reef. Quiet running and was easy to assemble.

Easy to assemble, starts working quickly, easy maintenance, quiet. The wiper blade in the neck works really well. Very productive, consistent, solid unit.

water line sticker is coming off after 1 day in sump....
