Decent Clips
I bought a few of these clips for me and my daughter. Hers were coated while mine wasn't. The coated ones work as described but the metal ones will tear your book pages if not used gingerly. There isn't really much else to mention.

Simple and effective
I love to read while I get ready in the morning, but could never keep my paperbacks open while my hands were otherwise occupied. This is simple and it works great. I do wish it were a little easier to turn pages (I read fast so have to do this often), and I wish the part of the clip that sticks into the book were coated or something so it would be easier to slip them in without damaging the pages. This is the best solution I've found so far. I'm happy with my purchase.

More junk for the junk drawer :(
I am a full time student and business owner that also likes to read during spare time so I have plenty of books as does my daughter who also attends college full time. Yet, neither of us could find a use for this silly twisted piece of junk :( Maybe we're just not smart enough to use it correctly? But unlike the 5-star poster who keeps one everywhere, our clip sits in the junk drawer. It was difficult to insert into a book, it was NOT easy to turn a page, and my daughter and I both agreed that if we just wanted a book opened to a single page (the Bible? a Cookbook w/ one good recipe?) for an extended period of time then maybe this will work. But for active reading in comfort... nope. It's junk in our opinion.

Hand-saver! Just what I've been looking for!
I love to read and I have Fibromyalgia and wrist issues; reading--especially in bed--can end up being painful. My hands, wrists and thumbs get tired and painful from holding a book open. I've tried so many clips and holders and sometimes they (sort of) work, and some are just not worth the trouble.I had low expectations for this, based on some negative reviews, but I figured it was worth a few bucks since everyone is different. I'm glad I tried it, as it works great for me! It took a bit of practice at first to figure out how to position the clip in the book and how to slide it up and down to turn pages. Once I got the hang of it, it became easy and natural; slide up, turn page, slide down. Also, the clip became a little less "sticky" after some use, so it didn't drag quite as much on the pages. I don't have to strain my hand trying to keep a book open, and in the right position, such as lying on my side, I don't have to hold it at all. A small thing, perhaps, unless you have hand problems!I will add, though, that I wouldn't use this on a book with very thin or fragile pages, or a very precious volume. I haven't had any ripped pages, but I can see how thin pages could tear without great care being taken. But for reading a book with typical pages, this little clip can make for a more enjoyable and less painful reading experience.I also recommend the Book Seat book holder, which I use when seated in a chair. It holds a book of any size, completely hands-free!

Book Magic Book Clip & Stand
This is a nifty little item. I bought a couple of them years ago when a store in St. Louis went out of business. I had no notion at the time how much I would like this little gadget or I would have bought every one that the store still had in stock. The older plastic covered clips will hold open even large books like my cookbooks so that they don't snap closed on me. You have to be careful, especially with the older plastic covered clips, so that they don't gouge the pages of the books BUT IT'S WORTH IT TO ME! I just slip them in and out of the book pages CAREFULLY! It took a few trys but I got the hang of it and WOW! do I like this little gadget! Now they make a newer, lighter weight clip. It slides in and out of the books a lot easier than the plastic covered clips do. It doesn't hold open the bigger books and cookbooks as well as the older plastic covered clips, but it works for paperbacks and smaller lighter weight books. It just takes a bit of practice and this thing will work great for you. The sturdier plastic covered older model takes a bit more practice than the lighter weight non plastic model. Just practice a little on an old paperback to get the hang of it.

Used to be better!
I absolutely loved the first few I got. They WERE NOT covered with that rubber coating and they worked much better, slipping on and off of the pages without catching. The new ones I purchased (WITH THE RUBBER COATING!), I threw away because they catch on the book pages and are not nearly as easy to manipulate. Too bad they ruined a good product!

It Works!
I use this clip to keep my hands free when I am reading. It keeps the book open, it stays in place, and it is easy to change pages. It is small enough to tuck it in a bag for travel and commuting. I keep one in my briefcase, one at home, and an extra one in a drawer for the times when the book clip mysteriously disappears. I have ordered several and given them to friends and family. It is a shame that the coating has changed, the clips with the smooth coating were not a problem. It is best to slip the clip into the pages at the top of the book and slide it up and down carefully when ready to change a page. I have torn a few pages on my paperbacks. For the price it is worth it. I haven't found a better clip, and I like the size.

Junk
As others have said, this thing is pure junk. The rubbery coating is sticky and smells horrible, typical cheap Chinese coating. The wire is too stiff to be used without ripping pages and the rubber rubs off.Save your money for something useful!
