Definitely get 5 stars helped save my issue with this cheap WD cord that came with my external hard drive. The texture and durability are great as well as the gold conductors big difference and I don't have any sudden interruptions with my hard drive or sudden disconnections. This is a great sturdy and great cord replacement for my situation.

I bought the cables for between an Asustor 6604 and a WD EasyStor 12TB drive I use for external daily backups and both cables have compatibility issues between the devices. If use the short 1ft the drive will not show up in the Asustor 6604 and if I use the 3ft cable the drive continually connects and disconnects on the Asustor usb 3.0 connection. On the usb 2 it does the same thing but only when reading / writing data to the drive. The WD drive is self-powered with its own power supply.Plugging in a Seagate 2TB slim with either cable works but I suspect the cables are not rated for USB 3 since the Seagate Slim drive I'm using is older. Little disappointed.

My external drive would randomly disconnect, say it could not eject, and was slow to save. I didn't know if the drive itself, the computer ports or the cord was bad so I went with the least expensive. This product fixed it! In addition, I am wowed by the speed with which everything is retrieved from and saved to the disk, wasn't really expecting that. I'm using the shorter cord since I don't need the length, and a shorter cord usually means more power/response. These are a much better product than the original cables for my drives. I accidentally ordered it twice so I will probably use one on my other drive as well. I plan to order one that will fit my cell phone, hoping I can transfer data.
