Bike Bicycle Rim Strip Rim Tape Fits Size 12" 14",16",20",24" 26", 27.5", 700C-A Pair

I was a little nervous of ripping with how much I had to stretch it to get it on but it held up fine and made for a nice snug fit. Width was perfect on my 18mm ID rims. An extra set of hands would be helpful but I got them both on in a few tries with only a moderate amount of annoyance.

After a broken spoke on my road bike’s rear wheel I needed to replace the rim tape. From my days working at a bike store I remembered rim strips like these and figured I’ll give it a try. This rim strip works out well. It installed in seconds and is easily holding up to the 110psi I use in my 25mm tires (I inspected fit and shape twice after recent flats). It’s great that I can remove it in seconds and reuse it when the next spoke breaks. I didn’t weight the strip before installing but I don’t think there is a significant weight difference to rim tape. Update: on a recent 108 mile ride my tire “blew” at mile 96. Bummer, right? Before replacing the tube, I checked the tire for any remaining sharp objects, none. I didn’t inflate the flat tube to locate the leak and investigate that specific location further. Big mistake. 4 miles later I had a flat tire again, at which point I abandoned my ride. When I investigated later on in my workshop, I found out that the rim tape had shifted a bit, juuuust enough to expose one of the spoke holes, and that was the cause of the two leaks. Now I know that the rim strip needs to be perfectly centered when installing or fixing tubes, but I wish it was just a few millimeters wider to avoid this problem completely.

Easy to install and works as expected, but if for some reason you want to use Presta tubes, you may need to add some extra material around the stem hole since I have had a few flats from abrasion in this area on 2 different brands of tubes.

I have 700 wheels so bought the 700 version. To my shock they aren't even close to the correct length (I should have paid more attention to the other 'doesn't fit post'). No instructions but found the product had some give so I stretched them carefully checking each time for fit. After 6 attempts or so I had the necessary length and was easy enough to fit at that point. Product seems ok but not what I would call an easy out of the box install. If we are supposed to stretch them then it would have been nice to be told.

Poor quality for 700c at more than 80psi, had to change because of punctures
