Good Value For Money Shelving
I bought two of these shelving units in order to store the expanding collection of books in my bedroom. They were delivered in very sturdy packaging with the result that the component parts were undamaged. The plans were very clear and all the parts were numbered. I opted to assemble the shelves using wood glue to secure the dowels. This is a cheap way of making sure that the shelves are strong when fully assembled. I also chose to use glue in the channels that the rear panels slide into as this will really help to provide structural rigidity. Even when taking the extra precaution of gluing parts, the assembly was fast. The end result was shelves that didn't feel at all wobbly. I am pretty sure that the shelves would have been pretty sturdy without the gluing process, but I have had flatpack furniture begin to fall apart after a while so I am now a belt and braces kind of guy. I also chose to upgrade the size of screws and wallplugs from those supplied, because I intend to keep a lot of books on these shelves. Some other reviews have criticised the size of hardware supplied and they seem OK to me - again, I am one to use stronger fittings if I have them in my tool box as the extra cost is so small. Overall I am pretty pleased with these shelves. They do the job, look OK, and are good value for money.

Nice shelf, but…
Purchased for my wife’s sewing room. She needs a shelf for bits n bobs and this fits the bill. But, the assembly, oh dear, that’s another story: I’m 67 and a very competent and experienced DIYer, I’ve assembled more flat pack furniture in the past 50 years than I care to remember, as owner, friend and, more recently, as a Task Rabbit. But the instructions for this shelf unit are the worst I’ve ever come across. They start well. Very well. Then lose the plot between sections 4 & 5 and then get back on track. After all these years, I’m still an RTFM bloke, especially if there’s an FM2R! And as is my style, I “dry-run” instructions before assembly (I’m a retired engineer so I like precision). My advice if you buy this shelf: You don’t need the (unsized) Allen Key shown on the instruction sheet. You don’t need a hammer either (unless your holes for the cheap n nasty wall plugs are too small… you should be able to push wall plugs home with firm pressure, not a hammer). You will need an extra pair of hands so a willing assistant is always useful. If you’re hanging the shelf to a wall, use glue to make the shelf “joints” stronger. Buy and fix some brace brackets to the back, don’t rely on the 30mm screws to secure the bottom shelf to the sides. Use decent screws and fixings to secure the unit to the wall. Other than that, so far, I’m quite impressed. Whether I will be in six months time, after it’s been loaded with sewing room bits etc, remains to be seen.

Easy to build
We thought this would be poor quality for the price ,but we were very surprised it’s solid MDF very easy to fix together each panel is numbered and cam bolts screws. etc I had it built with 30 mins and it’s now on the wall the plugs and screws suppler are not strong enough , so I bought Rawlplug shelving kit they supply all screws and drills

Okay
Its okay i would pay less as the middles piece was slivhtly put so it wouldnt assemble easy and has visable marks all over different areas of the finish! Luckily this isnt for an area that will be seen otherwise i would of been sending it back and asking for a refund
