VTech Amplified Cordless Senior Phone with Answering Machine, Call Blocking, 90dB Ringer, Audio Assist, Big Buttons

The Ringer is loud enough for my 91 year old Mother to hear when she is not wearing her hearing aids. She also likes the larger display and the larger number buttons. She likes the answering machine and especially likes that she can listen to her messages from any of her handsets. The reception is perfect, no noise and even works well when she's outside. She refuses to own a cell phone, so she carries the handset with her all day and it will stay charged. She lives on her own and I am very grateful and proud of her.

Purchased along with the VTech SN5307 Amplified Photo DIAL Accessory Handset. Mom was really struggling with her old Panasonic wireless phones. Buttons were to small, screen hard to read...etc. etc. These seemed like an interesting alternative. Mom couldn't be happier! The picture dual buttons seem a little gimmicky, but they really make using the phone much easier. Simply print some pictures of family, add a Name and insert them into the frames. Then just program the numbers/names and you're ready to go! It's a little annoying that the pictures aren't the same size, buts that's a pretty minor thing. One good tip, keep the names you program into the memory simple - once programmed the caller ID will say the name. User will here "Call from Bob" for example and they can easily decide if they want to answer or not. The accessory handset will have the same four numbers programmed as picture dial on the main phone. You can't dial any other numbers from the accessory handset, but you can answer any incoming calls. Yes, the handsets are both battery hogs, if you leave them off the charger overnight they will low the next morning. Just keep them in the charger and they will be ready when you need them. The voice caller ID is great, if you don't here someone you recognize, just don't answer. The speaker phone on the the base, main handset and accessory handset are all pretty good and the range is great. Overall a great choice for anyone who only needs a few programmed contacts, has trouble pushing little buttons and just wants something simple. The instructions are pretty well written and easy to follow. Definitely recommend!

This is a great phone but it does take time to set up and can be very confusing for an elderly person to set up. I love how it blocks robo calls once you block the number. My moms phone is not ringing anymore with these calls. My only complaint is it needs more volume control adjustment the handset. It only goes so high which is not high enough for my mom. The base ringer is really loud but wished the hearing end was higher. It is complicated for elderly to use to retrieve or add numbers . Next time I see my mom I will have to clean it up for her because she was not understanding how it works. I do like the 4 numbers she calls all the time is just a push of the button.

Night for my 93 year old father . He is able to use it without too much trouble.

UPDATE 04/27/2020: Unit continues to work fine outside the issue noted below. Found a flaw in the button placement (as others have mentioned) - if you're using the spam blocking feature, it's very easy to accidentally hit the 'block' button which will permanently block a person from calling. My grandmother had someone write her a letter asking her to unblock them...apparently, the last time she called, my grandmother accidentally hit the block button (by simply pressing the 'up' button next to the 'answer' button). Of course, she had no idea how to do that, so I went over and fixed it. UPDATE 11/13/19: Dropping 2 stars due to quality control. Bought 2 more handsets and the pendant. One handset would not work out of the box. Returned and Amazon replaced. A few months later (outside Amazon return window) one of the handsets started having an issue with the speakerphone so that the ringer sound was distorted and startling. Calling VTech was a royal pain with long troubleshooting steps for an obvious problem. Now I have to mail it to them at my expense to get a replacement. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This phone has a lot of features, so it's not "simple" to set up...so I set it up for my grandmother and enabled all the spam-blocking features. I added in all of her contacts so they pass-thru and everyone else gets a prompt (which robo calls can't pass). Pretty awesome feature! Very loud, which is perfect, and easy to read display. No complaints here - am going to purchase more handsets now and the pendant. One note that I didn't think about...since the base has to "answer" the phone to play the prompt to block spam, once a caller passes through, the other phones that are not part of this system will not ring. No big deal - I'm just going to replace the old phones with more handsets from this system. Worth it to keep those spam calls from getting through!

This VTech cordless senior phone has major reliability issues. As soon as the main handset is removed from the base, it often shows “out of range” and the screen goes blank. On the rare occasions it works, calls tend to drop within a minute and the handset shuts down as if it’s completely dead. Replacing the batteries did not resolve the issue. The additional four-button handset is a thoughtful idea for seniors, but it can only call up to four saved numbers since there’s no number pad for dialing. Unfortunately, with the main handset not functioning properly, the overall phone system is unreliable and not suitable for regular use.

This system is good for everyone, even those who are not tech savy as once it's programmed, you can ignore all the bells and whistles and just use the SOS system and/or the handset & base like an ordinary cordless phone. I purchased this in conjunction with two SN7022 Pendants. It’s only been a day and hasn’t been in an actual use for an emergency but here are the highlights & pros: - Can pair multiple pendants to the phone. - When the pendant is triggered, the base will beep very loudly for 20 seconds so that you know you have triggered the SOS before it starts dialling your contacts. It’s actually quite alarming but good for the hard of hearing. - For accidental triggers, there’s a cancel button on the back of the pendant. - The pendant is big but light. - Can program up to 5 SOS contacts, the system will call in the order you have programmed it. - If the 1st contact doesn’t pick-up it will then dial the 2nd contact, if they don’t pick-up it will dial the 3rd contact and so forth. If it goes to voicemail, it will continue to dial the next contact as the receiver of the call must push a button on their phone to confirm receipt of the SOS. - When a contact receives a SOS call, it will start with an automated message saying that it’s an emergency and then prompt them to push a button. If they don’t push a button or hang up it will continue dialling the next contacts. You can customize the message. If the receiver has call display, it will only show your name as usual. - If your contact confirms the SOS call, the contact by default will be connected to the base speaker phone - handset can be used too. If the person in need cannot speak, the contact can still reassure them that they have received the call, that they’re on the way and the estimated time of arrival. The speaker phone is quite loud so if you’re in a single floor unit, you should be able to hear the speaker phone from any room. - Great system for those who may need somewhat urgent assistance but not full on emergency/ambulance services. - Since it’s a landline system, there are no additional subscription costs associated. This also means if the power goes out, the SOS system will continue to work (unlike other systems that rely on wifi). - This phone has many functions, there are many bells and whistles but you can ignore them. The handset can be used like a simple regular cordless phone, can program up to 4 speed dials (they are separate from the auto SOS calls). All you need to know are who’s numbers are saved to the speed dial buttons (we programmed the 4 speed dial buttons in birth order so it’s easy to remember.) - There are also 4 speed dial buttons on the base where you can attach a picture. The buttons are big and easy to push. - When dialling out, the phone will announce the number that was just pushed, could be handy for those who have impaired vision but it otherwise slows down dialling out. This will also happen for numbers saved in speed dial. Cons: - The pendant is only used to trigger the SOS, it cannot be used to communicate. - Had issues pairing the system together, especially the 2nd pendant but everything eventually worked. - No low battery indicator on the pendant. - It feels like cheap quality. I would not hesitate to buy this again for other family members, I would test the system maybe once a month to ensure it’s still working.

Excelente systema - mi pariente de edad avansada con un poco de sordera no podia oir con ningun telefono de la casa. Este telefono tiene una bocina muy fuerte que le ayuda a escuchar muy bien. Tambien el altavoz sirve muy bien para platicar sin tener que sostener el telefono en la mano. Tiene muchisimas caracteristicas como identificador de llamadas, directorio, buzon de voz, anuncio de llamadas, es expandible para añadir mas telefonos o productos vtech, etc. Tantas opciones confundieron a mi pariente, pero ya que le supo contestar le encato poder oir a la familia que le llamaba.

j'aime savoir qui appelle avant de répondre, ma vue baisse et je vois moins les petits carractères, donc je voulais un téléphone qui me donne le nom de l'appelant, en FRANCAIS. avec des gros caractères sur l'afficheur. Malheureusement il donne les noms d'appelant juste en anglais, donc ça déforme tous les nom français :(. c'est très décevant pour moi, j'AIME beaucoup ce model VT série SN) j'aime les gros carractères, le son emplifier est super pour moi qui entend moins bien juste a cause de mes cheveux blanc :) . Sa couleur est parfaite je veut juste blanc, il se prend bien dans la main , ne glisse pas vu sa forme un peu plate. j'ai pas eu le temps dessayer tous les autres avantage vu que a ma grande déception j'ai du le retourner . j'avais réussi a mettre les instructions en français, mais il parle pas français :( :( Donc si ça ne vous dérange pas qu'il ne parle pas Fraçais , je vous le recommande fortement, pour les personnes qui aime bien entendre en parlant au téléphone ,avec un répondeur, 📱gros caractères, son idéal pour bien comprendre , je l'adore, je l'ai retourner avec regrès, Ont m'a remboursé tout de suite, j'ai pas eu de problème, je ne suis pas habituer a retourner des produits, Service parfait, retour sans problème et remboursement intégral, j'apprécie beaucoup.

Lo compré para mi mamá (adulto mayor) y le ha funcionado de maravilla. Tiene el teclado grande, audio graduable; incluso cuenta con un ecualizador para acentuar los graves y medios lo cual ayuda mucho para sus problemas de oído. La pila tiene buena duración. El altavoz de la base del auricular es muy útil para responder las llamadas en otra habitación. Estamos muy satisfechos con el aparato.

Es de buen tamaño especial para adultos mayores tiene buen sonido y se conecta fácilmente tanto a la luz como a la línea telefónica
