We BOTH Like It
Kitty figured out the tube puzzle instantly because she's used to reaching for snacks hidden in oatmeal boxes, paper towel tubes, etc. Her big surprise with the Stimulo was that it wasn't dessert in every tube, but her dinner. At first she would pull lots of food out looking for the prize. She eats Blue Buffalo so we're not going to waste it.A large woven plastic place mat for people (not pets) solved the problem. It's easy to clean and keeps Kitty's food off the floor. The texture keeps the food from rolling too far from the feeder and we're not stepping on crunchies anymore. When she finishes eating I just pick up the place mat and pour the untouched kibble back into the tube she just pulled it out of. Sometimes the food gets under the feeder because there's an open portion on the side so the feeder is easy to pick up. Again, working with the place mat keeps this hidden food from going stale. The tubes are marked like measuring cups. I can be SURE Kitty's getting the right portion of fresh food every day. Filling each cup would be way too much even for a 15 lb. chubster and defeat the purpose of the Stimulo. The instructions said not to give in when the cat begged for more food when the short cups were empty. Obviously they know their customers. We've had the Stimulo about a month and we're through the transition. She's cleaning her plate again, but taking all day to do it. It's fun to watch her work her system, and she's even starting to clean up the textured part between the cups. We have less and less leftovers on the floor. Sometimes she asks me to turn the feeder around when the cups in front are empty. For some reason she doesn't stand on it to reach the side by the wall.We put a few treats in the tall cups without extra food. I've watched her check and recheck to make sure she got them all. She always eats dessert first. Runs in the family. One reviewer thought it was too big. Actually it's smaller than I expected and is a good match size-wise with the Big Max Pet Fountain. The Stimulo is well made, easy to clean, and is doing what I hoped it would. Slows down the power chowing. No vomiting. Kitty's slimming down a little, but not losing major weight. Keeps things interesting for the her and she's fun to watch, too. I'm glad we got it for her.I forgot to mention the Stimulo comes with a free cat bed... She's been sleeping in the box since the moment we took the feeder out. I eventually cut the lid off, but she liked it either way.

Good Idea
I have two cats, one is six and the other seven. The six year old figured it out first. They are both eating slower, eating less, and seem to be two happy cats. My only advice is: Do Not Give In. Cat experts will tell you that sometimes when you switch a cat's food they become stubborn and will just not eat. The solution is to put the food out for fifteen minutes. If the kitty does not eat, then you put it up. At the next feeding time, you put the food out for fifteen minutes. If the kitty does not eat then you do the same thing, put the food up. Most cats will usually eat after the third or fourth time doing this. When my two cats realized that I was not going to go back to feeding them out of a bowl, they now eat from the Stimulo Feeding Station and Activity Center. I wish that it had rubber feet on the bottom rather than foam feet because it slides across the kitchen floor. I may see if I can get something at the hardware store.Another hint: When there is food left in the Level 2 Tube, I will not add more food until they have finished that off. This does two things: (1) The kitty has to finish off the old food before more is given and (2) The kitty knows they have to work or hunt to get to their food, which results in the cat having to problem solve to reach its food.My final hint: I do not fill the tubes completely full because the idea is for the cat to problem solve by reaching its paw down the tube. I was filling the tube completely full and the cats were eating only what they could reach with their mouths and leaving the rest in the bottom of the tube. Not filling the tubes as full has solved this problem.

Didn't Work for My Two Cats, Sadly
Neither of my two cats took interest in this, sadly. So I had to return it. I don't know why because I read so many good reviews of it before I bought it. I really want to find a way to slow my little fatties down with the eating, because no matter how much or how little I put in their bowls, they eat it all in like 1 minute flat. And then cry and beg for more servings, and they are gaining a lot of weight, even on the Science Diet Light cat food I've been giving them for years. I wish I could help them lose weight, but if I try giving them what they deem to be not enough food, they badger me and wake me up in the middle of the night until I give them food. I am well aware of the health risks of animals being overweight and recently got a negative diabetes blood test for both cats, thank goodness. But I don't want it to get too out of control and have my animals suffer with health problems and a lower quality of life because of this obsessive eating problem. I try to exercise them with toys as much as possible. Anyway, I hope I can find another way to get them at a healthy weight, but this wasn't it for my cats.

A Little peace in my home
The bowls are neat--a plastic platform with tubes and cups that hold the food. They are huge. Check the specs.I bought these because my cats are now 11 and they are hungry all the time. They ask me for food constantly. I bought these to make the cats eat more slowly and hopefully to help them feel some intellectual stimulation. It did slow them down. This bowl may encourage your cats to play with the empty bowl. My cats never used to do that and now they bang them around and knock them off the cabinet. Annoyingly the rubber stops on the bottom don't grip the wooden surface where the bowls sit. It's messy. The surface is not smooth plastic so small pieces of food get caught between the raised edges. I don't know why the designer didn't leave the surface smooth. Also you're not really supposed to feed pets from plastic dishes. Besides there are other pet food bowls for half the price. Or you could just put out several small cups and bowls for your cat to pick and choose and locate. For the price of this product, it should be much better quality. So room for improvement but also not a bad item for cats who believe they're starving to death.

Effective for weight loss
It's not the most beautiful product, but it works so well! Our cats have both slimmed down to a healthy weight, and one in particular loves the 'game' of scooping out the food.We do still keep a small regular dish of food, because our older cat cannot/will not scoop out the food in the center of the system, and instead prefers to whine dramatically until we get out of bed and refill the wells around the sides.

impecable

Fun with Food
Our delightful rescue cat is - how can I put this - chubby. She is on a prescription diet and is now allowed only 55 grams a day which she tells me is very little especially as she has to have it in four servings which she can Hoover up from a dish in a nano second. She is also an indoor cat and so we have been trying to make mealtimes more of an occasion by scattering her food and by using a Petslim ball. She enjoys this but had still not lost any weight and her food was reduced from 60g to 55g! Our vet recommended the Aikiou feeder which she uses for her own cat so I thought it was worth a try. The box gives detailed instructions of how to introduce the feeder over several days, but as I hadn't read these I just put three biscuits in each tube and put it on the floor. There was a pathetic moment when she walked round it, nose twitching at the smell of food but unable to eat the biscuits with her mouth and I felt very mean. Less than two minutes later, however, she had worked out that this needed special measures and started scooping biscuits out with her paw. She loves going back to check whether she has left any behind and is delighted when she finds an unexpected stray that got away. I don't understand the reviews that say it makes a mess - it needs little cleaning after biscuits and is easy to wipe/wash. It also seems very well made and sturdy. It is obvious that she really enjoys having her food from this and has become very skilled at using it which is fun to watch. It has definitely slowed her down and decreased the begging for some more so all in all we are both delighted. Now - I wonder whether they do a version for humans.....

SUPER !!!!
