When asked to review this item, I was unsure how to proceed. It's a crock....for butter...it makes butter better. I have wanted one for a long time since both my in-laws and parents like to leave butter out in the open air mingling with god knows what. Little bit of crumbs, pet hair, dust, maybe bug poop...a day or two and that is no longer butter but a Petri dish of the Black Plague and gross! This crock seals the butter goodness inside using simple water, keeps it at a solid temp so no melty ooze, seals it from the plague of contaminants and provides spreadable butter that won't mangle the most sensitive of breads. It's a crock, but the good kind. It is as described, arrived Amazon fast, good quality and will be a delight on any kitchen counter, not the beginning of a horror story. When the lid is off, it makes a beautiful vessel for any table for guest to partake in buttery goodness while feeling more cultured than they really are. It's fancy, it's arty, and it works. Worried what level of biohazard you butter is? Well, worry no more...get this crock!

I ordered this Butter Bell because I’ve been doing a lot more baking lately, making fresh breads and scones regularly. The one thing I kept running into was rock-hard butter straight from the refrigerator- not ideal when you want something that spreads smoothly without tearing up warm bread. This ceramic butter crock solves that problem beautifully. The butter stays soft, spreadable, and ready to use right on the counter, which has made breakfast much more enjoyable. It also keeps the butter protected and fresh. I was nervous at first because the crock is a fairly substantial ceramic piece and I worried someone in the family would chip or break it quickly. Happily, it’s proven to be sturdier than I expected. We’ve all been using it daily and it still looks perfect, not even a scratch so far. I love love this butter bell. I have left butter out on the counter my whole life. It was always unsightly and messy looking. This item stows the butter neatly and keeps it safely enclosed. I lit keeps the butter at a PERFECT consistency for spreading. the sturdy handle doubles as a nice base when open. I would recommend this item a million times over. A great value!

Our microwave bit the dust and a replacement took 4 weeks. We missed softened butter. Then I discovered this gem. We have our new microwave but LOVE having perfectly softened butter always at the ready. I will confess, I wanted a second container so that I would never run out of butter but I saved $8.76 with a competitor, Sweese Butter Dish. I’m on the west coast. The Sweese I purchased is for a larger stick of butter and has a mark inside to indicate how much water to add. The cost savings, water mark and larger capacity is great. BUT the Butter Bell is higher quality porcelain so there is that. Either is a good choice. Buy one, it’s the little things in life.

Great item but i need one that holds at least half a pound. I cant be doing this one stick at a time thing anymore!

I love real butter, I have blocks of it in the freezer, I have sticks of it in the refrigerator, now thanks to my new butter crock by L. Tremain, Inc. I always have fresh smooth spreadable real butter on my counter ready for that bite of instant gratification on my favorites. This stylish air tight butter crock is just what I was looking for, no more unsightly clear glass covered butter dishes and definitely no oil based margarine, there are very few options when it comes to spreadable butter available even if you purchase those whipped butters in the cardboard containers with the plastic top this work well and exceeded my expectations...

The matte black ceramic matches my Pfaltzgraff Midnight Sun pattern really well, which is how I came to the product. So far the bell works great; if you appropriately push the room temp butter into the bell and fill it up with 1/3 cup water as directed, the butter stays fresh, soft, and there isn't really excess water on the butter itself, just the rim of the bell. The handle is easy to grab and the bell can stand upside-down on a table when opened. So this is better than hard fridge butter, melty or dusty exposed butter, or a large oblong butter dish lid that doesn't have a handle and requires you to have Shaq hands to palm it. My one note is that I agree with the person who said that a marker/line inside showing you how far to fill the water would be helpful so that you don't have to guess or use a measuring cup. I also have not used this in the summertime yet, when the butter might be more prone to slipping. If it works then, that will be the full test.

This little butter bell is awesome! Beautifully made, we keep it on our counter and it looks sharp. It keeps the butter soft whereas other ceramic butter dishes do t work and butter is still so hard. Highly recommend! Worth every dollar if you want soft butter!
