A MUST READ for every believer in Jesus!
This book is convicting yet powerful. The gospel needs to be KNOWN and SHARED. The authorβs passion for equipping believers to share the gospel spills out in every chapter. So many churches have watered down the gospel or assume that every member understands it. This book needs to be read by every pastor.

You know what assuming does...
Helpful breakdown of the many different assumptions we bring to all areas of life and how the gospel really must be central - all we need for Christ-likeness in this life is more of Christ and to keep His gospel forefront in our minds and conversations and lives.

After reading through this book I have greater insight in knowing, living, and speaking the Gospel. One of the better evangelism books I have read.

Fantastic must read
I rarely read a book twice. I believe I've read this one 4 times. Read it personally, or in a small group. Just read it.

Pray like Paul
If the only thing that I learned from this book was that Paul only requested prayer six times and three of those requests were that he would be bold in his evangelism that would justify buying the book. But there was so much more.

A very good, biblical, encouraging, look at Evangelism.
I very much enjoyed the book, a quick read but full of heart from a humble voice, with what seems to be good, biblical grounding. As someone who finds speaking about Christ with others challenging I was encouraged and inspired by the call to a true and honest gospel that I am fortunate and blessed to be included in delivering. And I think the warnings presented help some of the wrong-headed worries I feel and encourage me to keep guarding against some of the influences that concern me in the world around about.

If you are Christian Read it
Clearly written and encourages confidence in the gospel message and boldness in its proclamation.Written to encourage Christians to clearly share their faith.Don't assume the person next to you in a Church service knows or believes the gospel message

excellent
This is our book of the month at Ballymoney Baptist. I have read it in an afternoon and have been greatly challenged. I will read it again and next time maybe take some notes. Knowing, living and speaking the gospel. An urgent message.

Developing a Mindset for Evangelism
A couple of months ago I listened to a lecture by D. A. Carson and heard him recommend this book, so when I was making my January reading list, I added it. The brief comment by Carson didn't tell me much about the content of Marks of the Messenger, so I began reading not knowing exactly what to expect. What I found was a book focused on developing believers with a mindset for evangelism, or growing Christians with heart for the gospel. I'd half-expected a "how to evangelize" book, which tend to leave me feeling guilty and paralyzed; but instead, this little book is all about knowing, loving and valuing the true gospel so that the gospel soaks into and out from our lives. In the process, Stiles corrects some of the common misconceptions about the gospel. He tackles issues like pragmatism in evangelism, legalism, easy-believism, assuming the gospel, making social issues more important than the gospel, and more. One of the strengths of Marks of the Messenger is it's format. It's short; it's chapters are short; and it's very easy to read. The style is conversational and each chapter starts with a story. After church on Sunday I was talking to someone who was also reading this book (on a Kindle--and this is a perfect book for your Kindle), and he said it was almost "light reading," and that's exactly right. But he also called it "deep," and that's right, too. You could hand this book out indiscriminately to believers (not a bad idea) and know it would be appropriate for all of them.In Marks of the Messenger, J. Mack Stiles helps us identify the gospel and put it in its rightful place in our lives and in our world. This book will help the believer be emboldened by the gospel in order to share the gospel, and that's an excellent thing. For that reason especially, it gets my seal of approval.
