Poet Extraordinaire
Mary Oliver is MY poet of the century. I love nature, love watching what happens in the wilds--even if those wilds are my backyard in the suburbs. Ms. Oliver's many books of poetry and prose-poems are a wonderful and frequent reminder of the richness that can be founded by actually being in nature. The soothing qualities of her writing are such helps to deal with a very hectic and disruptive world.

Powerful evocative work from a beloved poet
There’s not a false note in any of these poems. I’m a huge fan of her work. This does not disappoint.

Nature's Beauty
My sister turned me on to Ms. Oliver ' s work this past winter. I have always been fascinated by nature's beauty and simplicity. Ms. Oliver is the first poet whose imagery comes closest to matching my personal perceptions of nature. I have discovered a new favorite.

Topography
Like a topographic map these poems range afar from very high and gorgeous to rather lowly and mundane--andeven worse, the repetative Mary Oliver tricks of pseudo-childlike reverence. When she's not being self-conscious,she's absolutely wonderful! Many many magnificent phrases, lines, and even whole poems.

What Do We Know: Poems And Prose Poems ... Mary Oliver
Poems are soft with straight forward meanings. They are observations of scenes of outdoor life. Easy and tranquill.

The only poet that I love
Mary goes with me. I sit and read and re-read her. Her words are a meditation. Not romantic for the sake of romance, but thick, brutal, honest observation of the natural world that soothes and calms. Simple and poignant.
