Cheap, sturdy, and oh so portable!Note the proportions. This is definitely a TRAVEL chess set. Don't expect a center piece, expect a quality chess set you can throw in your backpack. I've had it for over a year now with zero complaints.Edit: I’ve had this chess set for over nine years now and have played innumerable games of chess and it is still going strong. This was a great buy.

I bought this for a friend of mine so we would have a nice set to play on. There is great detail in the pieces and is really a nice set. It's a little on the small side which works for the space we had but beware, it's a smaller set than it looks. Great set though.

Cons:Felt coming loose at bottom of pieces.One knight received with a broken ear.Wrong Pieces sent. (Product wasn't marked correctly. For the most part, I am very happy with this chess set. It looks just like the picture. The board and pieces are beautiful. The only thing I am disappointed in as far as the looks go is that the algebraic notations are stamped on and are uneven and blurry, slightly tacky looking. My only other disappointment with the set is that one of the black knights came with a piece broken off, but with super glue was an easy fix and now looks as good as new. Still disappointed to pay 50 dollars for a chess set that came with a broken piece though. Overall though, I really like this set and am happy with it.

Its ok. One of the king pieces came unglued and I have to glue it again myself before I gift it. Probably paid too much, I think it's worth $30.00 not $50.00. But, it looks cool and is a nice chess set.

Not at all what was promised. Description stated The King is a serious 3.35" inches tall on a chess board measuring 16.5" x 16.5" and fit for display at home or in the office. The folding chess board, made from beach and birch wood, has an insert tray for the chess pieces inside. King Height: 3.35"; Case Dimensions (folded): 16.5" x 8.25" x 2.25". What we received was nothing of the sort. It’s a cheaply made piece of junk

I love this set. The board and the pieces have great details in them. The Queens look amazing, the knights don't look lame, and board has extra style grooves and grid markings to complete the look.small enough to fit in a backpack tho I dont know how durable it is nor have i tried to figure that out. great for playing on the go. I do wish there were extra queens for pawn promotion but hey the game still works with out them!i love this set!

The Caliph wood chess set is beautifully carved and nicely weighted. The pieces are a good size for children as well as adults and the set is sophisticated enough for the most advanced chess players. The board is a nicely carved and decorated with storage for the chess pieces. Since it folds in half to store the pieces it takes up very little space.
